A screenshot of an X post by Jon Cryer (@mrjoncryer .bsky.social) dated March 7, 2025, commenting on the deteriorating relationship between the U.S. and Canada, blaming a "criminal president" after six weeks. The post includes a poll from Polling Canada (@canadianpolling ...) conducted by Pollara on Feb 23, 2025, with 1,506 online respondents. The poll shows support for: removing U.S. alcohol from stores (77%), retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products (75%), punishing Elon Musk by tariffing his companies/cancelling his contracts (74%), and cancelling contracts with American companies (65%).
Do you know how hard it is to anger Canadians?!?

Neural processing of naturalistic audiovisual events in space and time www.nature.com/articles/s42... by @yaldamohsenzadeh.bsky.social et al., showing auditory information represented in both early visual and auditory regions, but visual information only identified in visual cortices; #neuroscience
6/By fusing EEG (temporal precision) with fMRI (spatial precision), this study offers a spatiotemporally resolved map of how audiovisual stimuli unfold across the brain.
5/ A two-branch deep neural network (DNN) model trained on audiovisual data couldn't replicate early cross-modal integration seen in the brain, emphasizing the need for early fusion in models
4/ High-level semantic & categorical info only appears later in high level auditory, visual, and multisensory areas.
3/ visual & auditory features were processed with similar onsets, but different temporal dynamics. Auditory info takes longer to peak than visual, likely due to the temporal nature of sounds.
2/ Using EEG and fMRI, we discovered early asymmetrical cross-modal interactions, with acoustic information represented in both early visual and auditory regions, while visual information only identified in visual cortices.
1/ The human brain seamlessly integrates distinct sensory information to create a coherent percept. This paper dives deep into where and when different types of audiovisual information are processed in the brain using naturalistic stimuli.
Excited to share our paper published in Nature Communications Biology, led by my brilliant PhD student, Yu Hu: go.nature.com/3Wuqj4G
