I've consoled myself to knowing he wont be back in my heart ever again. I was glad that Marr made sure a Smiths reunion never happened, that way I'm not left with a moral dilema.

He went from a cover of Moon River to Now My Heart is Full on this tour. The opening notes for that change were just spectacular.
Such a shame where weβre at now with Moz.
Ticket for Super Furry Animals gig at Liverpool Royal Court on 9th October 2001
Were the Super Furries jumping on the early 00βs bandwagon of band names starting with The? π
This was in support of the audio visual treat that was their fifth album βRings Around The Worldβ

To quote a friend on this one βMy divorce with Morrissey is worse than the one with my ex-wifeβ. Even so, this one goes back to my favourite venue in 1995 and possibly his best solo work in βVauxhall and Iβ.
Catatonia - Equally Cursed And Blessed CD
I was chatting to @youngrobbo.bsky.social about Catatonia earlier this week - this is an album I donβt play often enough - dug it out following the Top Of The Pops repeats from 1999

Shocking development. I received actual paper tickets for Wolf Alice at the Royal Albert Hall today. Just to repeatβ¦ ACTUAL PAPER TICKETS. Iβll end up with a stub. Please can we return to real tickets.
A poor relation to a proper mixtape though. You can make a playlist without listening to the tracks, a mixtape took 60 to 90 mins plus of effort.
Now Iβm compelled to reply to this because itβs the Cocteau Twins. That whole album is just another level throughout.
I had a revisit in recent months of that as well. Some great tracks on it. It's easy to forget that Catatonia were huge during this period.
Yeah, the Roundhouse one and it was absolutely stunning. The only thing I wish is that Gaz would start looking a bit ropey around the edges to make us other 50 years olds look normal π

I braved getting down the front for this - last time I did that at a Supergrass gig was in 1994 - I didnβt last very long! They played at 100 miles a minute back then π. I remember they opened with Moving - still required jumping up and down at the chorus, but not as crazy as in 94 π
Did you go to the "I Should Coco" anniversary tour last year?

Had this on cassette on first release. Then the band deleted their whole back catalogue, which meant I had to track down a Japanese import on CD. Near enough wore out the cassette copy I had.
The original rave versions of 3am are so good if you can get a copy.

Was thinking where to go today. Going for Catatonia at the Shepherds Bush Empire in 1999. Was right down the front at this one, which is rare for me. A really great night and I believe it was televised as part of the MTV Five Night Stand.
Have the signed boxset of this. Love this album.
On this day in 1997 Republica released their self titled debut album on #decon_records in the UK
A cracking album, not just the singles but the rest!
In at number 31 in the UK charts but eventually peaked number 4.
Nice position to be in because CDs are still available at a good price point.
One of those bands Iβve never really liked that much. Some absolutely cracking songs, without a doubt. A generational frontman. Yet did nothing for me overall.
Iβm going to hate myself here, especially to a vinyl geekβ¦ it doesnβt sound better. However, two key aspects are it sounds pleasing to the ears and you donβt end up skipping tracks.
The RosalΓa performance was incredible, especially bringing on BjΓΆrk as a guest. However, I so wanted to see CMAT win an award this year. You canβt have it all though. Big shoutout to Ellie for highlighting the perilous state of live music in the UK.
Have you seen one in the flesh? Had a look at one the other day as I have to have an EV as my next car. They actually look a lot better than the photos.
Havenβt since 2019.
On this day in 1998, @shedsevenofficial.bsky.social released the single She Left Me On Friday.
What a song, it also has special meaning for me as we used to sing it when I broke it off with a lass on Friday and had a party!
In at number 11 in the UK singles charts!
Saw them not long after this release. Theyβre always great fun live.
I hate a remix on a single. Sometimes they work, most of the time I just feel cheated.
Such a soaring title track.
I remember popping in The Greyhound, outside Wembley, because my nephew wanted a pint in a glass. They served us in plastic cups π. It was cheaper than a pint in Wembley though, just about.
My problem is deciding a single track is near on impossible. This month it could be Shoplifters, next month it could be There Is a Light. My favourite band basically.
