We cant lose when Iyana Moore gets hot. Let's go Dores!! #vandywbb
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
Itβs already begun; institutional leaders should be taking this seriously. Even though it was expected for anyone who read about Project 2025, itβs no less alarming. Pay attention, folks. Itβs a *long* way until Nov. 2028.

Literally have the receipts right here. Thanks for being rude though! There are so many more where these came from.
I just reposted a starter pack of people in health policy, which has more suggested follows in this field. Also, there's more Vanderbilt affiliated biostats folk on here than I remembered! Also recommend following @spiekerstats.bsky.social, @maxdrohde.bsky.social, @ashleymullan.bsky.social.
I made a starter pack for health policy statistics! ππ’
Biostatisticians do so much more than work on clinical trials. If you are interested to learn more about the field, here are some suggested follows also affiliated with Vanderbilt: @f2harrell.bsky.social, @prebeiro.bsky.social, @sarahlotspeich.bsky.social, @lucystats.bsky.social. 3/3
Biostatisticians are also trained in data science and epidemiology. We are part of the design process and analysis process of clinical trials. We are the reason there are statistics out there that say certain birth controls have higher risk of blood clot, vaccines are x% effective, etc. 2/3
The first question Ive gotten from a lot of you is "what field are you in?" I am getting my PhD in Biostatistics, which is the study of statistics applied to data from living things (where the bio prefix comes from). Biostatisticians have the same training in statistical theory as statisticians. 1/3
Wow! I did not expect to receive so many congratulatory words in response to my last post. Thank you Bluesky peeps. And I am so glad that so many of you are interested in hearing about my field. I will post a short primer at biostatistics and my research area tomorrow.
Thanks for caring enough to reply!!!! Super productive use of your time.
Happy to use my first bluesky post to say I passed my qualifying exam today and am now a PhD candidate :)
