People from Brazil at least think arigatou (obrigado) is also a loan word, but I'm quite sure that's not true. Although, they do sound close.

So the word came from Portuguese to Japanese and then back to Portuguese. I love this.
Kabocha is a great word too. It comes from Cambodia, from where the Portuguese brought the pumpkins to Japan. Then, this particular type of pumpkin was introduced to Brazil by Japanese immigrants and became known as abóbora japonesa or cabocha in Brazilian Portuguese.

My favourite nickname / slang term for a bicycle (especially an old one) is the Hungarian drótszamár. It means "wire donkey." I've also heard bikes referred to as "iron horses" in several languages (Welsh, Breton, Taiwanese etc.) Anybody got any other good ones for Luís?
Now that I'm finally riding my bike to work, I'm caught wondering if there's a fun nickname for a bike in Swedish like in Brazilian Portuguese.
We call it a "magrela" (skinny) or even a "camelo" (camel).

A passport is an internationally recognised form of identification enforced by conventions signed by Sweden. Just saying.
The only reason I need a bank account is to get the holy grail of bank id. Otherwise I could just use Wise or Revolut.
I waited a month to get any kind of Swedish issued id and managed to find a walk in branch (it's at least a month for an appointment) and still they'll take 2-6 weeks to let me know lf I can have an account.
I've been posted to 4 different countries before, this takes 30 minutes and a passport.
Loving Sweden so far albeit the cold.
But... Opening a bank account shouldn't be this kafkaesque.
Sometimes I miss Brasilia and its modernist landscape dearly.

That means he's probably using Brazilian provided data (being in Manaus and all). We always use football fields as a measurement to "translate" raw numbers to the public.
