" White like Snow, Lotus eyes, The Guru (teacher) of the Daityas (demons), Knower of all shastras (Great texts of knowledge), Bharghava (Shukra's race of brahmin) I bow to you. "
Shukra (शुक्र - Venus) mantra:
" Om Himkunda Mrinalabham Daityanam Paramam Gurum
Sarva- Shastra- Pravaktaaram Bharghavan Pranamamyaham "
Thus Shukra became known as Asurācārya (असुराचार्य) and daityaguru ( दैत्यगुरु), i.e. The Preceptor of the Asuras and Daityas. He taught them spiritual knowledge, magical powers and mantras to finally balance the war between the two factions.
They struggled without any guidance until Shukra (शुक्र), god of the planet Venus, decided to help them by taking on the role of their guru.
Vishnu, the God responsible for well-being of alls creatures, often made sure that the Asuras were continuously subdued by the Devas. The Asuras were invariably denied their rightful victories due to stratagems of Vishnu. Thus they were perpetual underdogs in the clash.
In hindu mythology, Devas (divine beings) and Asuras ("demons") are in perpetual conflict. Devas are softer, kinder, and smarter beings, while Asuras are powerful but can be cruel and brutish, and often lack knowledge.
Daitya King Hiranyakashipu (हिरण्यकशिपु).

The daityas (दैत्य) are a race of asuras (असुर) in hinduism. The Eclipse Demons Rahu and Ketu belong to the daityas.
