It’s really complicated, it is maintained every morning. The brilliant Vista Alegre maintains the slip at the same consistency they cast in the factory with. It’s truly amazing to keep this working.

Continuum is a liquid clayfall at Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, Lisbon.
For the past year I have worked closely with Filipa Oliveira, Anísio Franco & Vista Alegre ceramics production that spans 200 years, it is abundant in skills, materials and manufacturing.
On exhibition until 31st May 2025
