It was a shopping list of cool ideas without a cohesive story pulling it all together. The characters, settings and the threat all felt underwritten. Like a producer ran away with Peele's outline before he'd had a chance to finish it
Anthony Shaffer outlined a sequel to The Wicker Man. Russian corn spirits, a medieval dragon, Sgt Howie plummeting off a cliff tied to eagles. Nobody made it.. until 2020 when an audio adaptation was released👮🔥🐉

Britannia was such a dark, weird, completely addictive series. Jez Butterworth really leaned into the mythic chaos of Roman Britain and it paid off. Still one of the most distinctive shows of the last few years ⚔️🔥

That's a great list. Some proper obscure folk horrors in there. I do think, though, that The Devil's Bath should come with a warning. Its horror is based in such real human tragedy. A heartbreaking film
