Anyone have any dictation-to-text apps they like to use to collect data? There are some great paid options, but free would be nice!

#ornithology and #population biology folks: I need 2 sets of avian life table data to use in a chapter I'm writing. Having trouble finding good examples! Hoping for a nice fast-slow comparison, maybe tropical-temperate, or small-large body size? please help!

We're saying hello to Sand Martins, our next #SpringArrivalSpotlight!

Gracing our skies from March, they nest in colonies in sandy banks & cliff-sides. Did you know? Their burrows can be up to a metre long!

Spot their distinctive swirling flight & short, forked tail.

Bluesky and fellow #urbanists - I am an ecologist at Cal State Los Angeles. My research is focusing more and more on urbanist issues, e.g., walkability, urban design, etc., and the intersection between benefits for people and biodiversity. I'd love to connect with others thinking of similar things.

It's estimated there are between 250 and 400 of these birds left in the wild — but there's no plan... Dean has fallen in love with the elusive Tasmanian azure kingfisher, but fears not enough is being done to protect the species, which is one of 14 endangered native birds without a recovery plan.

Conservationists fear that without a recovery plan, the Tasmanian azure kingfisher could go extinct www.abc.net.au/news/2023-10...
