A poster for the Textile Museum of Canada's fabric sale, with roughly quilted pieces scattered about. The sale is March 27-28th 2026 from noon to 5pm, and tickets are pay-what-you-wish. The Textile Museum's address is 55 Centre Avenue, Toronto ON M5G 2H5. Comrags gave us bolts & bolts of fabric to sell when they closed, and we've cut some of it into 2-3 metre lengths for grab & go and also have some still on the bolt that can be cut to order.

Quote: "Double denim, or the ‘Canadian tuxedo’, is the trickiest part of the cowboy uniform to master, but it, too, is making a comeback (though influential people such as designer Tom Ford never stopped wearing it after its peak in the 1980s)."
Stampede clothes will be less cosplay, more fashion.

As the White House posts videos blending real footage of its war in Iran with clips from movies and video games, this talk from @justinling.ca is incredibly timely.

Why do we need International Women’s Day? Apart from misogyny and Christian nationalism, you mean? | Zoe Williams
Again, many of us in energy industry will not be travelling to Houston, TX. A booth from NRCan won't keep me safe from U.S. government authorities who would immediately identify me - a Black woman - a danger, a threat, an illegal, an alien, plus more names.

Hi @scienceupfirst.bsky.social, you are being requested to grow your mandate and vision.
Young people:
1. Please read all of the banned books, on principle. Please go to your local library (until Minister Williams & Premier Smith get books banned from those public libraries too).
2. Be so knowledgeable & so creative that you write & produce more books worthy of being banned by the UCP.
Sir Sandford Fleming rolls in his grave.
Picture of Prelude, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra program on my lap.
Yes! Dance Dance Disco was amazing. Thank you @calgaryphil.bsky.social!
1. Yes, I danced the entire show & sang along. No shame.
2. No, I'm not an actor, singer, or performer. This is what an engineer looks like.
3. Epic. That the orchestra did a Sylvester tune in front of Minister Fir, 🔥.
March 8 is International Women's Day. All over social media organizations will make performative posts about uplifting women & girls. Those same people voted for the political party led by this woman, Premier Smith, and should be accountable for the harm & risk to women & girls from her decisions. ♀️
Ooof. I told my church brother featured in this piece, Reza Dehaki, last Sunday: "I have no words...won't say thoughts & prayers, that's insulting...this is the worst kind of awful." I embraced him & his wife Ladi.
I worry for my former Edmonton based colleague who has her mother & sister in Iran.
This @cdnpress.bsky.social piece showed up on page 6 of the @theglobeandmail.com print edition in Alberta because it is a much bigger deal than the coverage it is receiving in the energy community.

"This isn’t about constitutional reform. It’s about politics. More specifically, it’s part of a broader and increasingly brazen [UCP] effort to either control the courts or, failing that, convince the public not to trust them. "

Not in my experience. I have had several family doctors + gynecologists (the outcome of moving cities for work). It wasn't diagnosed until the pathologist put it on the report of my uterus after a hysterectomy & oophorectomy. Even my late mother, a nurse, was trained to think 'just bad periods'.
This is giving me hope, inspiration, and perspective today. Thank you @barackobama.bsky.social for honouring the late Reverend Jesse Jackson with these words, all of them. ✊🏾🙏🏾

The math doesn't lie.
Danielle Smith spent $17 million on "Alberta is Calling" to recruit new residents. But spent $0 on the infrastructure to support them.
Now that the bills are due and the services are failing, she’s pointing the finger at the very people she invited.

Breaking news! I have my first opinion piece in the Toronto Star today! I got to make fun of John Tory AND make a joke about me playing for the Blue Jays, so it's safe to say that this was the most fun I've had writing something in a while. 💙 www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Endometriosis and adenomyosis are medical conditions where you are not believed. Where, in my experience, male doctors don't have the first clue and just keep prescribing you more pain medication. A film worth your time "This is Endometriosis". Award winning.

The day of my 2nd round of chemotherapy, adenomyosis came with avengence. Could barely walk, was so bloated & swollen I almost couldn't find trousers to fit. I couldn't take pain meds - I was in chemotherapy. My mother said, "you're not the first to get her period". I drove to the cancer centre. 6/
Whenever I was publicly ill, it was embarrassing to my family. I vomited in a bathroom sink at my own scholarship award ceremony at a fancy venue in Hamilton. My mother told people the Cornish game hen at dinner didn't agree with me. I took the train back to uni like nothing happened on Sunday. 5/
I quietly missed days of school, days of work & never once disclosed the cause for fear of the shame I was told to have over my "bad periods". In university I wrote exams where I fought to stay upright at the desk & coherently answer exam questions while managing piercing pain in my midsection. 4/
