: Washington DC Trip Report Hello Friends: What a week in DC to meet with Trump Administration officials and House Committee on Natural Resources staff and in Utah to work on the Protect Wild Utah campaign...Utah is ground zero for proposed elimination of national parks and national monuments. Meetings with Secretary of the Interior's staff yielded info regarding the canceling of a groundbreaking mountain lion research project in the Santa Monica Mtns, new uranium mine proposal in Lake Casitas Watershed, new logging in Los Padres NF and increase in oil drilling next to Sespe Condor Sanctuary. The President and Secretary of the Interior have signed orders to allow new bids for new oil and gas drilling platforms in federal waters of the Santa Barbara Channel WITHOUT environmental review or public participation...first lease sale will be this Spring. Next month The President will sign executive orders downsizing or eliminating a number of national monuments across the west including the Carrizo Plain NM in eastern San Luis Obispo county. The two national marine sanctuaries offshore of California';s Central coast, Channel Islands NMS and Chumash heritage NMS will receive zero funds in the coming fiscal year. Proposed elimination of urban national parks such as the Santa Monica Mtns National Recreation Area was discussed with the Acting Director of the National Park Service. Lots of upcoming plans to close various national parks, national monuments, national forest and national wildlife refuges across the west. We have a whole lot of challenges ahead of us, we need to organize, engage, stand up and speak out. Long time no post! BBQ moved to a rehab facility to help with the healing of his leg injury. He is settling in but definitely is feeling like the country kid that just moved to the big city 🤣

It's absolutely wild how far south this cold is stretching!

I am evaluating him heading to a friend's farm for his healing journey as they are better equipped with dry lots, larger stalls and a maintained indoor that I think he may be happier there with more things to do while he heals.

So update on BBQ:

I had the vet come out and ultrasound his leg and the bad news is that he did injure his SDFT & DDFT. The good news is it's a very minor injury and he's expected to make a full recovery.

For now he thinks stall rest/restricted supervised turnout is dumb.

Between the ice, white out condition snow and 55+ mph wind gusts I have concluded winter is bs.

If he's got anything going for him it's a pretty head and glorious neck 😍

Agreed. I don't know much about the WP world so I can't speak to show records but I always find it odd when unproven mare lines are bred over and over expecting a different outcome. Especially breeding mares who are barely sound for turnout much less carrying a foal to full-term.

Brief update on BBQ's leg. This is after icing for a short time this morning and not wrapping it last night (because he has a bit of a bandage bow on the front of his leg)

I'm pretty freaking happy with it 🥰

I just swapped all my guys blankets this morning and was Uber impressed. Even my two almost 23 year olds look fantastic 🥰
