For real folks, MacGyver is awesome. He doesn’t like guns, he cares about the environment and world peace, treats women with respect, loves animals and can fix anything with duct tape, a pocket knife and science.

I like picturing floating point as a continuous number line with various non-uniform steps/stops showing which of the real numbers can actually be represented, whereby any real number in between 2 stops has to 'jump' to one nearby, as if the steps are magnets.

Do 'step', 'stop', 'magnet' work?

I know I’ve said this before, but I keep two on my bookshelf, so that whenever I lend it to someone, they can finish it twice as fast.

So I switched to doing lots of cardio-style cycling/running and within a couple of weeks it cleared all the pain away. My back feels great from doing the cycling/running, but I don't get the same endorphin hit that I get from the strength training... (contd)

So I joined a gym and focused on strength training with a push/pull/legs split. Even though I was noticeably stronger and also getting the huge endorphin buzz (see also: Arnie on 'the pump'), the back pain didn't completely go away ... (contd)

In my 20s & 30s, despite sitting at a computer for ~40 hrs/week, I played lots of team sports and didn't have any pain problems from a sedentary work life.

Now in my 40s, about 1 year after giving up the sport (also, being older), I started getting intense back pain from lack of movement... (contd)
