Today is the First-Ever World Day For Glaciers! โ๏ธ๐
Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, threatening water security for 2 billion people, disrupting ecosystems, and accelerating sea-level rise. In 2023 alone, 600 gigatons of glacier ice were lost.
Letโs fight to preserve them!
Last week, on @beteve.cat, I could share my experience traveling to Antarctica with 124 women and non-binary people in STEMM. Grร cies per aquesta oportunitat!

I would like to thank everyone that supported me in any way to make this experience possible, family, friends and work colleagues. I canโt wait to share more with you once Iโm back!
I canโt wait to see the projects and collaborations that will grow from this journey and to keep advocating for the incredible but fragile planet we all share.
There is something about this remote space. You witness nature in its purest form, far from human impact. You are just another presence among them. In this landscape, you become an insignificant fragment of something much bigger. Antarctica places us in the true context of the planet.

Iโve been part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience; traveling to #Antarctica with an incredible group of women in STEMM as part of the #HBTransform Program with Homeward Bound. I feel grateful and humbled to be part of this community, learning from the people and the environment we have experience.
Thanks for your support Tony! It means a lot ๐
In two days I will start the journey through Patagonia and Antarctica to explore, learn and share stories that connect people, science, climate change and the natural values of these regions ๐๏ธ๐

This project is all about bringing the magic of Patagonia to kids in Spain and France: its glaciers, culture, and biodiversity through a sensorial podcast. Along the way, weโll chat with scientists, glaciologists, teachers, anthropologists, and local communities.
๐โจ Patagonia, here we come! โจ๐
Just met Melisande for the first time, and weโve officially wrapped up our last school visit before the big adventure!
In ONE WEEK, weโll be landing in Buenos Aires to kick off 6 weeks of exploring, learning, and sharing the incredible story of Patagonia.

Letโs take action to preserve these incredible ecosystems for future generations! ๐ฟ

๐๏ธ Did you know? Mountains...
โข Cover 27% of the Earthโs land surface.
โข Are home to 15% of the worldโs population and about 50% of global biodiversity hotspots.
โข Are critical for water resources, food security, and biodiversity, yet they face growing vulnerabilities due to climate change.
๐ Happy International Mountain Day! ๐๏ธ
Today, we celebrate the vital role mountains play in sustaining life and highlight both the opportunities and challenges in their development. We need global partnerships to drive positive change for the worldโs mountains and highlands.

Antarctica Day is on Dec 1st each year. It marks the signing of the Antarctic Treaty, which sets aside Antarctica as a continent for peace and science.
To help celebrate, hereโs a photo I took a couple of years ago, of a seal which had clearly got the message about peace.
Happy #AntarcticaDay!!
Thank you for amplifying our voices, Itziar! ๐ Itโs an honor to be part of this incredible group of women scientists, united in developing conservation and educational projects to tackle climate change while promoting visibility for women in STEM ๐ฑโจ

This journey is about science, leadership, community and transformation in the most extreme environment on Earth. Follow along! #Antarctica #HomewardBound #WomenInSTEM
๐ค Antarctica tests leadership, teamwork, and resilience in ways no workshop could ever do.
๐งช Polar research emphasizes the importance of STEMM in understanding our planetโs future.
๐ It's a front-row seat to climate change: glacial recession, wildlife impacts, and rapid warming highlight the urgent need for global action.
In two months, I'll arrive in Ushuaia to join 100 STEMM women on Homeward Bound's final Antarctic voyage. โ๏ธ Why Antarctica? ๐
โExperts and scientists are migrating to Bluesky in record numbers.โ Welcome if youโre new (and if youโre not, please help by reposting) - hereโs a starter pack for the #biodiversity science-policy community:
