Testing next week for alpha-gal.

Downside, tho, the first whomp level anxiety week in almost 4 months.

The post-anx-spike hangover is a bastard.

Our future on this planet is being determined by people who won’t have to live on it.

It makes me deeply sick to think that men who’ve spent their decades and have mere years left and won’t live to see the repercussions, are lobbing bombs like it’s a schoolyard bully game while everyone else suffers, dies and wonders whats next.

there’s no consequence for tromp, israel, russia.

the one up/one down dutch racks here everywhere miss the point that the classic upright dutch bike with panniers and crates is a fantastical pain in the ass to park in. And they’re the go-to.

the carbrains thinking cycling is ONLY a sport will outlive the heat death of the universe.

but then the carbrains also wail and gnash that cyclists go β€œtoo fast” and β€œwear lycra”.

David’s whole brain has several serious flaws.

Looks fine to me, rupert. All that empty car lane seems like a waste…./s.

They really would tear up the sidewalks too, if given a chance.

today planned just a 4km bike and 1km swim, now it’s a 12 km bike and 1km swim because i have a bunch of errands to run.

i still ache from the antwerp lost slog and all the museum stairs, and the ikea slog and stairs earlier this week.

ok, time to get myself together and get going.

Anyone concerned about e-bikes being β€œcheating” needs to ask themselves how much cheating is done by pushing a car’s gas pedal.

between a long ago busted knee that sometimes doesn’t like to behave, and the dutch winds, the ebike is the equalizer and i bike more, further, and i don’t need max assist, just a low setting boost.:D

E-bike scheme gives 67-year-old joy and a new lease of life Frances King, 67, who lives with osteoporosis, was referred to Cherwell District Council’s Move Together programme to support her in becoming more…

Is riding an e bike cheating?
No, it's just like doing 20 reps at a low weight instead of 10 at a heavy weight in the gym. You get the exercise anyway. AND you might be more likely to get on the bike in the first place.

Tired, and achy, from 10km walking in Antwerp, endless chocolate, two museums and a festival and a writer meet up.

I am having mild anxiety but it could just be chocolate overdose and flat utter exhaustion.

my bike is my car. coming from a city with next to no cycle infrastructure, i feel so grateful.

( randomly, i’ve been to charlotte! friends live there. nice airport too. downside: maybe the worst case of food poisoning we all ever got. that made for a wild flight home.:D )

we lived only 3 blocks from the school, 90 seconds bike ride so around age 8 he started biking it solo. now he’s in middle school at 12 and its a 5? min bike ride but the pool for gym was 15. they also biked to summer year end camp 20km with teachers.

its a gradual process.:D

20.02.2026 16:48 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i’m fortunate in that we do have extensive cycling infrastructure and in school they did comprehensive cycle safety and drivers being also well trained and also cyclists too, its not my fear. its being harassed by roving kids on fatbikes out to stir trouble that i worry

20.02.2026 16:28 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

mine biked cross the city to a friend’s house and i almost chewed my fingers off with worry. he’s almost 13. But he handled it.

I’ll still worry when he’s 23, i’m sure.

week two of not eating mammalian ( no cow, pork), and the hives are vastly reduced and almost non existent.

In a couple weeks I might email my GP and ask if we can test for alpha gal. that would be one major health irk sorted.

Everything else is relatively managed, but the hives we were lost on.

i don’t miss the baby years. they were fun, but i like the years he can talk back, cook his own breakfast and do his own laundry.

The first 6 months i was a zombie, sleep deprived, aching, and i vaguely remember…anything.

It will go by fast. ( and then you stare at your pre teen and go β€œhow did that ALL happen so fast?”)
