It has taken a long time to bring into being, but it has some excellent articles, some original new translations, along with interesting discussions of those translations.

Counting the murdered Arab adults doesn't do it for some people. Here is a list of the children.

Ha, thanks! I did one round of proofreading. Surprised that I missed that :)
Thanks! There certainly are some connections to modal epistemology in the text. However, I didn't go into the details here. Already pretty long π
(Started writing this 6 years ago. So you might have helped me in one way or another and I forgot to thank you in the acknowledgments -- sorry!)
I have a forthcoming paper in Phil Imprint! It's an attempt to reconstruct SuhrawardΔ«βs theory of imagination. Please admire the insane Figure 1 (it took me hours!!).

Delighted to be the opening chapter of this brilliantly conceived (and beautifully covered!) new interdisciplinary collection on Space, Time, and Memory edited by the wonderful Lynn Nadel and Sara Aronowitz. Even better, the whole thing is free to download here: library.oapen.org/bitstream/ha...
Today on #HoPWaG, Karyn and I look at religious themes in Mohism! Major themes include the rejection of fate and defense of sacrificing to ancestral spirits ("ghosts").

He was a great philosopher, but also kind and funny. At one of my first conferences as a grad student, he came and sat with me for lunch, opening with: "I'm here for the free food. How about you?"

Oh thanks, Elisa! I'm glad you kept thinking about imaginary objects but sorry to take away from your break! :)
This small illustration of ringdoves in the tree trunk and lotus blossom incorporates the influence of Chinese naturalism. In contrast, the reverse side is more traditional. The innovative page layouts feature cursive <em>nashki</em> script with bold angular <em>kufic</em> script headings. Derived from Aristotelian sources, this treatise deals with the physical characteristics and organs of animals. The text was translated into Persian from Arabic for the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan Khan (reigned 1295β1304). Roughly a dozen pages from this long-lost manuscript are known. It is dated by comparison with a similar manuscript made at Maragha, near Tabriz, in 1297 or 1299.

Happy Nowruz, the new year as intended by nature and pure reason!
today!
Julianne Chung citing Cline 2016 on the risks of asking a non-specialist to teach Chinese philosophy (I guess that the same could apply to Sanskrit philosophy), namely that the department will then think that they don't need to hire a specialist.
(And the class may end up being shallow)
