Even by cult standards, this is just bonkers.
Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.
We have received numerous credible reports of torture, killing, and inhumane treatment of detained individuals at the Camp East Montana migrant detention facility, located within Fort Bliss. #txlege
“The truth is, he’s not the same boy he was before. Ever since he went in there, he’s suffered psychological trauma; he’s very scared,” Conejo Arias said. “He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy.’”

Genuinely moved to see a powerful super bowl halftime show that celebrated the best of Latino culture, with love and potent symbolism on the biggest cultural stage this country offers. Latino communities are under attack, and art like this validates their existence and worth for all to cherish.
The billboard behind Bad Bunny during this halftime performance reads: "The only thing more powerful than hate is love." #SuperBowl
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alberto Castañeda Mondragón says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance. But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain. He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friend’s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again. He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.
ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”
What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

it’s too catchy
A bird perched on a bare branch, against a blurred-out tan background. The bird's body faces right but the head is turned back over the right shoulder, so that the left eye is looking at the camera. Brilliant orange-red plumage extends from the dark beak down the neck, breast, and belly, to include the undertail coverts. A dull brown streak extends from the beak back past the dark eye. The back, visible folded wing, and tail are dark brown. The crown is as brightly colored as the undersides of the bird, but redder. The crest is raised, adding to the effect.

The US attack on Venezuela is plainly illegal; it violates the UN Charter, there was no Congressional approval, and there was clearly no immediate threat justifying action in self-defence. It will now be used as post-hoc justification for imperialist regimes around the world.

The US government is summarily executing people on a weekly basis without telling the American people any of their names or presenting any proof of their guilt, for alleged crimes that do not carry the death penalty in the US.
Good morning. It’s snowing here in Baltimore! Felt inspired to share some winter scenes. Have a lovely day! ❄️☃️🌨️

Job well done: Child death a key part of the MAGA platform, alongside shielding notorious child sex traffickers.
Abstract painting with reds and blues and a little black and green. It emerged as a figure in cloak with a large red collar or adornment, with a raven-like head looking to our left. And, a sort of large halo or sun perhaps behind it at the top, in red, blue, and white. Or, interpret it as it speaks to you of course- the beauty of abstracts.
a surprise: I painted this at a different orientation, turned it, & blinked a couple of times —here is Spirit of the Raven.

My photo collage shows four hippo statuettes made of Egytian blue faience, a ceramic material made of ground quartz. Their bright-blue shiny bodies are decorated in black with depictions of Nile river plants such as water weed and lotus flowers. This decoration depicts their marsh habitat as well as having various layers of symbolism associated with regeneration. For example lotus flowers open in the morning and close at night, symbolising rebirth. Blue faience hippos have been found in Middle Kingdom tombs of high ranking officials. It’s thought they were placed in the tombs to aid the rebirth of the deceased. Hippo top left - Walking hippo shown in profile facing right. Height 11.5 cm, Length 21 cm. Egyptian Museum, Cairo. Top right - Roaring hippo (looks like the hippo is smiling), seated, with head at left and turned inwards to front. Height 7.5 cm, length 12.5 cm. Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen. Bottom left - Standing hippo in profile facing right. This hippo is part of the Met Museum’s collections and is popularly known as ‘William’. Height 11.2 cm, Length 20 cm Bottom Right - Reclining hippo with head on the right, facing front, and tilted down. Egyptian Museum, Cairo
