For the first time in 11 years, St. Paul's police oversight board requested an independent investigation.
CM Yang and Johnson said yes. Mayor Her said no.
βan independent investigator risks compromising the investigative process and any resulting discipline.β

Not great that, when I searched for her, contempt comments came up as the first several hits. π¬
It's about who is in charge - the public or private capital. I'd pay the same rent I do now to a city-owned building just so I know that I can talk to a publicly accountable agency when things break or don't work.
Well and I think there's something to be said about turning these into city owned social housing, where the city runs the property rather than some landlord. Make these into long-term assets for everyday people.
Roundtable for Moral Capitalism? QoL Prosecutor? Parking? Skyways?
My friends, simply support city financing to convert these buildings to social housing or housing or any kind. None of this addresses the *nothing to do* of downtown. The place just got a grocery store in the mix again after all.
"SINGLES TAX" HITTING RENTERS is a new and interesting way to do a story about people saving money by having roommates.
Some professors at the University of St. Thomas are doing a research project on the effects of the ICE occupation on Twin Cities parents. They're looking for parents who are US citizens, who live in the Twin Cities metro area, and who have kids ages 5-10.

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
Gonzo journalism
My one and only - fine tip for writing really small on slips of paper and fantastic colors. And clicky for one hand use on the go... my fave
I had to get enough miles on my bike to please @danmarstp.marshallwords.com couldn't sleep otherwise
This hat still thinks Bill Murray owns the team.
This hat looks like it lived in the prehistoric smoking section at Gabe's for roughly 20 years, only to live in a box for another 20 years, to find its way to my head. Curious to see what it'll look like after rain, camping or a wash.
Lost my legendary St. Paul Saints hat last summer during the campaign - absolute tragedy. Blew right off my head into the river.
My girlfriend hunted for months to find one like it and it's even grubbier than mine was before... by design? Saints merch is weird, just like MN's biggest small town.

Hey my safe needle disposal sign is still up! Neat! Here's to a safer corner for everyone π¦Ί
Yeah, but I've started going back to the smaller boxes like PetSmart for the cats, Michaels for craft stuff for my kiddo ... Place focused on the sorts of things Target wants to carry *just enough of* to keep me coming back.
No thanks. The pet obsessed cashiers at PetSmart are way cool.
Saying no to Target has saved me money and has me making better choices with more options at Cub Foods and other stores. More people would be better served shopping elsewhere.
UMN permanently closed their Boynton Dental Clinic today after a couple week temporary closure. I hear about 25 people have lost their jobs; they didn't find out until today when the news was made public boynton.umn.edu/dental-servi...
I just called them and got in for late April. Not all hope is lost!
WHAT? I love them and have an appointment in a month. Been recommending them to literally anyone who could get in. What an embarrassment for the U to do this.
For the fair, for the fannies!
No we need the fair, annex today
If thereβs one thing Iβve learned in the almost 13 years Iβve lived in Minnesota, itβs that I am the target audience for St. Paul. I must never move away from this wonderful place.
The second one is that the State Fair needs to stay in Falcon Heights because we canβt put that TP burden on St. Paul.
The secret roll-into-a-closet food shelf at UM Duluth became a national model for other self serving and embarrassed colleges and universities π«
It only gets worse. There are now food shelves at every campus. Some are tucked away in closets and it's treated as innovative. Meanwhile, students are still ineligible for SNAP.
UMN: Driven to Discover (the depths to which we will go).
The state requires landlords to give tenants 14 days notice before filing for eviction. St. Paul City Council had long planned to increase that to 30 days. They're now thinking of temporarily extending it to 60 days, through Dec. 31. www.twincities.com/2026/03/04/s...
