This is only extenuated when the only reaction caused to scientists comes when their funding is pulled. The trump administration is a symptom, of a much larger problem.

There is a large moral disparity in science, and it’s exasperated by the fact majority of scientists are privileged/disassociated from the real world.

Science is filled with disingenuous people living in bubbles of their own design. It’s also filled with people who like to pop bubbles. Being in between them can be very stressful

There are always a million excuses not to do something. Rarely are they valid, or at least, they’re temporary.

If you want to do something, then shut up and do it.

We are all just so absorbed with our own small bubbles, deriving many conclusions, that are completely devoid of reality. A complete disconnect of the empathy and the supposed object of that empathy. Sad.

I do have resources in the UK, and a lot of means to get student aid for prospective STEM students. It’s not about positivity but how hard you’re willing to work for it. I’m not tryna force you but want you to know you have support if you really want to try 🤍

And I believe in you completely! It’s just the system doesn’t want everyone to have access and for some people it’s harder, nearly impossible. But people like me exist to support people like you. Hmu if you ever decide to go down that route!

My point in bringing up my experience, is you can. Despite all valid excuses someone might have, nothing is actually stopping that besides you. It took me way longer than most because I had to figure the funding out too.

Yeah, and in that context.. I was homeless and had no money for 80% of my degree. I also had no high school diploma when I started. Point is, it’s about passion, even if the lack of finances makes it seem impossible.

I was homeless when I started my journey to becoming a physicist. It’s not really a money thing, but a passion thing.

And then someone I help was actually an imposter and uses the funds to cause even more chaos? It would be terrible.

The reality is, we were bought and sold.

Because billionaires so desperately want people to believe they could’ve been physicists if they wanted to. It’s a weird attempt to make money and intellect equivalent..

How my thesis is going as I prepare for a Ph.D

I took a break from my thesis to go get some plants with my love :)

Grateful I was able to present my research at the Materials and Applications for Quantum Technologies conference this week. I got to speak in depth about my research to many talented physicists and materials scientists.

Most interactions and accounts on here seem rather artificial.

Why

Step one: make sure it’s hard and financially detrimental for impoverished people to attend college.. step two: only fund universities with predominately privileged students.. step three: profit..

Applying to graduate schools is unnecessarily expensive.. seems like they’re trying to keep a specific class out..
