In the 8th District, the conversation often begins and ends with the need for youthful energy. Kevin Morrison, the Democratic nominee, embodies this shift. However, Morrison is far from a political novice; his tenure as a Cook County commissioner has provided him with a tangible track record of governance. While Morrison occupies the left of the spectrum on social issues, his ability to build a “big tent” is his greatest strength. It is rare for a staunch Democrat to earn the backing of Republican mayors in the Northwest suburbs, yet Morrison has done so through a consistent focus on local small businesses and constituent accessibility. He represents a rare legislative balance that is often missing in Washington.
