🧵 Another big domino falls to Toronto: the #BlueJays just signed 1B/3B Kazuma Okamoto, with the terms still TBA. The Jays have added a lot this offseason, but primarily on the pitching front: Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, & Tyler Rogers. Okamoto is the first big bat they've added, and will slot in at 3B.
That means you could grab a high ceiling power/speed combo with (I believe) a better hit tool than he gets credit for at the back end of your FYPDs or you might even be able to get him for free after the draft
Either way, it’s an upside shot that I’ll be taking as often as I can
Quinn-Irons currently sits just outside the top 60 FYPD names overall in our consensus ranks at PLive and I have ranked around 45 on my personal list
He made significant strides in those departments prior to being drafted
So.: 25.9% K%, 9.4% BB%
Jr.: 15.4% K%, 13.1% BB%
The K% rose back to 31.3% in his 8 game pro debut but he also boasted a 78.4% contact rate over that short sample
So with potentially plus power and speed, why doesn’t he get more attention?
Because there are questions about his hot tool and approach with Fangraphs giving his hit tool a 30/40 present/future grade and Pipeline giving it a 45
HOWEVER…
A fifth round pick out of George Mason University, Quinn-Irons hasn’t received much fan fare despite putting up very strong numbers prior to being drafted
He finished 6th in D1 in total bases (177), tied for 17th in stolen bases (36), and 22nd in slugging percentage (.734)

Been digging into the FYPD class for this weekends @DynastyPickups pod and I’ve found yet another deep name to get excited about 👀
Hint: he finished top 25 in DI in slugging percentage and top 10 in total bases in 2025
