I’m proud of the work #adoptees and birthparents have done over generations to create a systematic critique of our culture’s addiction to adoption & its dependence on a horrifically predatory adoption industry. I praise ther willingness to speak truth, knowing they will earn endless abuse for it. +

not a single reference to how we, who put our entire selves into sharing what we have learned from having lived adoption, are actually affected by adoption. Once again, the mainstream ignores us. But they will take our banner and hoist it, all but begging to be commended for their bravery.
I guess we need to stop adoptions then because paperwork doesn't magically make you a parent either. 🥚

She used *our* fucking slogan. we are the ones who have been saying for years—for generations—that #adoption is not an alternative to abortion. Instead of leading with “Here is what those affected by adoption have been saying,” she speaks our truth and reaps the praise.
so brave to get out there and lose 100 followers for presenting to the world the same words—literally verbatim—that adopted people have been using on social media for years, without acknowledging that WE CREATED THE WORDS. We originated the thoughts. We offered up our experiences. 🥚

As usual, the criteria for being taken seriously when talking about adoption are (a) not being adopted and (b) being a reproductive-health professional.

The second out-of-body experience I had was getting my OBC. The first was when I asked my mom, “What does ‘adopted’ mean?” and she explained it to me when I was four.
when i had in my hands my original birth certificate (what a fucking phrase that is), and I saw my mother’s name and handwriting, i underwent a radical change of heart: from “i’m doing this for my kids’ family health history” to “i’m getting back what the Church and the State stole from me.” 🥚
reminder that #adoption agencies *depend* on being able to manipulate pregnant people who feel cornered and all out of options in a society that is shredding its social safety net.
