I mean, a replacement engine and other parts don't get cheap, if you rebuild it you either get everything from junkyards for cheap(dicey) or ya get it online or from verified sellers(expensive, less risky)
Buy broken down car from junkyard for cheap, order parts from rockauto, profit. If you can do the work yourself you're doing the most hard part of the car and that's affording a mechanic since they always get pricey, you being your own mechanic cuts costs alot
