I’m old enough to remember how horrified I was at Watergate: last night I held a candle in the chill night air with 50 others, memorializing a woman murdered by government thugs, on camera, in broad daylight. Never believed in capital punishment…but may be persuadable now.

I got the same advice when I got sober, but deeply believed I was dually addicted & could not stay off the sauce whilst smoking.

That was 31+ years ago: a few years later, I was told I have a tiny patch of emphysema in one lung: doc said I quit just in time.

I did on May 14, 1994, same day I quit drinking (I’m just not that smart, I guess); the very best 2 decisions I ever made. Still have not picked up a drink or a cig in 31 years. SOO worth the pain and effort…best of luck to you in your resolution.
