It's been a whirlwind of a fortnight - we held the first Postgraduate Symposium for the School of Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies, my wonderful sister came to see Scotland for the first time (and loved it!), and I've assumed my elected post as Postgraduate Research President!

Melvyn Bragg has been one of the last standard-bearers for a really important, and unfashionable, idea: that good conversation, between people who really know their stuff, on complex or difficult subjects, can be fantastic radio - and that the national broadcaster should do this.

I hope it endures.

The chapel screen is one of only a few original features left from the 15th century chapel.
