Emma's great aunt Anne (or it might be Liz?) and her turkeys, at the Stone family farm at Lurgan, Co. Offaly, early 1950s. Was really sorry to miss TAG and @lauramca.bsky.social's SPMA Geoff Egan lecture this year - very glad a good time was had!

The mincemeat after three hours in a 110C oven. The suet has melted and the fruits have swelled up.
Out of the oven now, and will spend the rest of the day gradually cooling, occasionally stirring, with the whiskey added once cool.
The ingredients of Emma’s whiskey mincemeat melded together before going into a low oven for three hours: chopped apple, raisins, currants, sultanas, orange and lemon peel, vegetable suet, sugar and spices.
Snow on the ground, and the first batch of this year’s whiskey mincemeat is spending the morning in the oven.
Nothing intimidating about that 👍
