Road rage towards CyclingMikey?

This video shows why distraction when stationary is still dangerous, and why the UK is entirely right to prosecute and convict stationary phone using drivers. @andy-cox.bsky.social youtube.com/shorts/EjhVe...
Victim-blaming never helps. We’re rightly appalled when it happens in crime such as sexual assault — and we should be equally horrified when it happens in road danger. Stop blaming those harmed. Focus on dangerous drivers & build a culture that respects cycling & the wider benefits of active travel.
Yeah that's a shocker. I'm very surprised they did not do anything. Maybe they did, and you just didn't get the email? That happens sometimes.
I'm not surprised with this video - that's well under 1 second of red so unlikely to be actioned.

Pleased @northantspolice.bsky.social are adopting the public road crime reporting best practice — crucially, updating everyone who reports.
In 2025:
➖ 2,930 public reports
➖ 1,533 enforcement outcomes including;
• 45 court summons
• 229 penalty points
• 1,063 courses
What is your local experience?

I still report them, and I've just had back a prosecution reference.
Public reporting deters crime. We urge it for burglary, assault, fraud — so why not road danger?? Reporting helps tackle reckless driving and save lives. The Daily Mail mocking this as “villainy” misses the point. Accountability on our roads protects everyone.

😂😂😂
Pleased to see no exceptional hardship granted. Repeated speeding was rightly recognised for what it is — a serious risk to road users. Courts putting prevention first, not excuses. Accountability matters if we’re serious about road danger reduction.

Masonic membership carries a perception of unfairness—real or not—in decision-making, undermining trust and confidence.
If you belong to an Org you believe in, transparency should not be an issue.
I am not, have never been, and will never be a Mason. Openness matters.

Commenting as Govt launch a road safety strategy.
Every death on our roads is unacceptable. We need a Vision Zero ethos: no deaths or serious injury. Change driving culture, reject speeding, use speed-limiting tech, strengthen sentences, end ‘accident’ language. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

This may be of interest to the UK cycling community. The driver who was never charged after he killed Mike Hall in Australia on 31 Mar 2017 was just jailed for sexual assault and soliciting an 11yo girl 3 years later.
Lack of consequences!

"No, not Cycling Mikey"
"You sure?"
"Yeah, there's load of us."

A British driver in Poland assaults cyclist with a baseball bat. Why? He pointed out to him he's going wrong way on one-way street and refused to let him through. Surprise: pepper spray is legal in Poland.
Suddently @cyclingmikey.bsky.social's encounters look a very relaxed in comparision :P
Sure, I've emailed you. Thank you!
The science is that drivers are more lawbreaking than cyclists, by far.
The facts are that lawbreaking cyclists are usually just annoying, whilst lawbreaking drivers are deadly and doing almost all the killing and injuring.
There's actual science behind why luxury car drivers are 3-4 times more likely to break the law than the rest of us.

This driver got disqualified back in 2023 I think. It took a while for the court result to come through.

The idea that anyone anywhere could video you any time takes all the fun out of anti-social driving. The sense of paranoia really eats away at you.
The public made 150,000 video allegations across England and Wales in the last year, most were prosecuted.
I dunno if it's a compliment being called me, I'm so sorry. It's good that drivers are getting the mindset that any of us might report them though. That perception of the chance of being caught is a good thing, it's most likely to suppress offending and thus the danger to us on the roads.
Arrogant? Hahaha, it's funny how people get completely the wrong impression.
It's easy to get away with using your phone behind the wheel once. What about for a whole week? A month? I or another camera user only have to catch you just over once every three years, and you'll be disqualified.
