A large school of >200 barracuda swimming in a large circle. They are large, almost a meter in length, with pointy nose, crescent moon-shaped tail, and black bars lining the side of the siverly body.

The resident school of barracuda in Iliana, westside of Ataúro Island in Timor-Leste. My guess is great barracuda, if any fish people can confirm?

Recent trip to #TimorLeste saw a large school of bumphead parrotfish!

They were doing a holding pattern swimming circles on the reef - too bad the viz wasn't great. Always amazing to see these gentle giants underwater.

the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever

they aren’t going into universities’ endowments

they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research

Regardless of one’s position on abortion, this is legally correct.

Trump administration cuts to NSF will result in more than 200,000 FEWER people per year involved in basic science, training, and education - what should have been the next generation of US scientists. This isn't even eating your seed corn, it is setting your seed corn on fire and salting the earth.
