Facts about BC's opioid crisis I didnt know:
-most people who died from toxic drug overdoses were men in trades
-most overdose deaths occurred in homes, not among the unhoused population

Vaccines save lives.
Vaccines protect you from infection, and/or protect you from getting the worst complications of the disease.
In addition, by being vaccinated, you are protecting all of those around you, including the young, the old and the immunocompromised.

Ivermectin is making a post-pandemic comeback, among cancer patients The anti-parasitic drug became a household name during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is now being embraced as an alternative treatment for cancer. It is as politically polarizing as ever.

There is no credible evidence that ivermectin has any impact as a cancer treatment.

If you choose to take it instead of undergoing standard treatment, you will die from your cancer.

One of the reasons I no longer pick up sessional clinical teaching work. Always at least $10 less/hr, & often a lot more than that. (A friend taught in a BSN prog in Sask & got a "market top-up". In BC, only male-dominated trade instructors get that. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ)

I'm sorry about that. I shared that as further ammunition against the anti-vaxxer's "oh, it's just a normal childhood disease, my son was sick for a week and now he's fine" nonsense.

Even if someone survives polio without any ongoing issues, they may still develop post-polio syndrome decades later. I recently met a 80ish man who had had no chronic issues from his childhood polio, until 3 yrs ago. Now, he can hardly walk + is in constant pain, d/t post-polio syndrome.

One of the things I'm most proud of is that when my (then) husband and my son came home from Cub camp w Norovirus, and the infection control measures I implemented prevented anyone else from getting it (me/2 daughters). πŸ™‚

I’m a Polio Survivor. I Don’t Want You to Get It. Polio is once again a public health threat in the United States. Grace is disappointed, though not surprised.

Since polio vaccines may be considered β€œoptional,” do you enjoy the following? Walking, being warm, having energy, driving normally, sports, travel, functional bowel and bladder, strong bones

If you enjoy any of the above, then polio vaccines are not optional, they’re common sense #polio #vaccines

At least 30% of people on Vancouver Island don't have a PCP and there are few WICs, most w short hours. So when an ER coworker says, "oh, ffs, why are they HERE for that?" (Rx, routine BW, etc), I respond with "where ELSE are they supposed to go?". πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
