I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

It depicts my character Ire in the center, standing victorious after a battle, grimly looking away from the implied massacre. He is firmly gripping a green and bloodied war axe. He is painted with starker, darker shadows than the background, and while some aspects are shaded in more detail, others (hair, necklace, axe and shoes) are left in a rough, flat state. Some aspects, such as the blood, the hair and the grass were drawn using the lasso tool. Ire is wearing a black (though blue, green and red-tinted in highlights) sleeveless top and a simple loin cloth in red, orange and purple colour. Around his neck is a heavy green metal necklace, and he is wearing green sandals that reach up below his knee. He is standing in an orange-tinted steppe, with two mountain peaks painted in the distance against a dimming sky. The clouds are gathering low, showing a clear view of a massive celestial body in the distance, perhaps a moon or a neighboring planet. A puddle of blood is stretching beyond the bottom left corner of the image, carrying messy implications.

yeahh i tried CSP a few years ago and the lines just weren't the same. i'll probably use them interchangeably, sai for my usual work & CSP for painting. not very convenient, but being a sai user, i'm used to skipping between several programs to achieve basic modern art program functions lmao

feels like cheating.. me and sai have been going strong for over 15 years 😔

since i've been dabbling in digital painting so much more lately, i wonder if it would be a good idea to finally explore other drawing programs.. i love sai for my linework, but i feel like i might find something more in line with what i need for painting among custom CSP brushes

on one hand i think this turned out v cool, but on the other i wish it had more of my own touches to it. i'm excited to explore more of this sorta style, but i need to yank it back from allowing too much imitation. my favourite parts of this are the ones that look 'unfinished' lmao

I downloaded Bryce 4 the other day and have had a blast tinkering with it. It's rly easy to get into and itches this specific part of my brain only this type of 90s CGI can reach. I wish I had known about it back in like highschool because I would've made a million renders with it for diff projects.

"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.

I've seen discourse surrounding artists "peaking" at 30 and I just want to say don't fall for that trap!
I'll be 45 this year and I don't think I've ever been more resolute about my work.
