Actually I think we could all do with a lot more representation of misfortune with no specific cause. Miscarriages, layoffs, divorces, disasters. No reason, your number just came up, like jury duty.

Comic books in 1954 . . .
actually the running version of this i think is impossible? like you can only go as far as you can take yourself, your time is what it is, etc. but comics is more subjective. the placements are arbitrary. your first is somebody else's twentieth.

good post becomes incredible when you realize who OP is
maybe it's not that people like drawing YA comics more so than YA comics are one of the last frontiers of making comics a career? i'm really asking to anybody who wants to reply

lots of yearning and grief transformation characters in bojack. herb especially is one of my favorite characters cause he too is changed, but he guides himself into becoming somebody satisfied that he's also satisfied being. he finds contentment while remaining honest and that rocks.
i think tuca and bertie succeeded in some of the ways bojack didn't by being a tight limited series from the outset (i say this in the context of having only seen season 1 and finding it satisfying
i wonder how it was produced because it has the same kinda inconsistency board driven shows had sometimes (steven universe comes to mind) - like bojack is so moving and funny to me sometimes and other times it makes me cringe from being unfunny! it's all over the place lol
this running and comics analogy doesn't fully work but it's like i project the worst comics comment section onto the runners lol
this extends to comics i.e. being "forced" to share space with people who aren't in competition and don't take it too seriously, feeling frustrated when these people hit certain benchmarks that they don't have your context of, etc. like i feel embarrassed running on the trail with "real" runners lol
i've been missing on jokes recently because the tone sounds more deprecating than i intend but it's just happened so many times as adult that the same activity becomes fun because i'm not being pressured to be good at it or better than somebody else.
running is enjoyable when i choose to do it versus having to do it to reduce the shame i bring to my family
normalize being good at making comics

The Mouthpiece, Quality Comics masked detective character, discovers a human trafficking ring which hides women inside of sharks.
An absolutely unhinged sequence, god bless Golden Age comics.

Illustration of a sunfish (also known as a Mola Mola) floating above an aerial view of some farm lands. A plane flies next to the fish, really putting into perspective of just how large the sunfish really is.
I think that if sunfish could, the would be sunbathing in the sky โ๏ธ
