Be sober, be watchful.
Be sober, be watchful.
When he found that the administrators were upset, he laughed. “Do they expect students not to be anarchists?” he said. “What else can the young be? When you are on the bottom, you must organize from the bottom up”
I feel this strongly: I don't care. I am DISGUSTED that 175 little girls are dead and that thousands are dead across the region and that 1 million people are displaced in Lebanon alone. THIS IS EVIL.
unironically demonic
Honestly this is the origin point for everything to do with Christianity and politics in the US today
If you’re not familiar, the song is a setting of a poem by Saint John of the Cross which is the story of a monk and his male coded lover, which is an allegory for the yearning of the soul for its beloved: the creator.
This is a fundraiser from a very trusted grassroots network in Lebanon working on shelter, food and medicine aid. I know A LOT of people who are organizing with them rn. Please help them reach their goal and beyond.

Jordan, last on the list, is my friend in question! I’ve been super grateful for his moral clarity and thoughtfulness around these conversations.
I asked a friend at seminary, who has a philosophy PhD! “anti-AI (or at least suspicious) folks: Manual Vargus (phil.), Paul Scherz (phil./theo.), Gabrielle Johnson (phil./comp. sci.), and Jordan Baker (phil./theo), are the ones I'm thinking of off the top of my head.”
The same way you don't want people bombing you and your loved ones is the same exact thing that other people feel where they live.
nobody on here or twitter who says listen to local voices is, for example, saying listen to Bahrainis when they cheer against their pro US dictatorship and for the missiles being lobbed at US military positions. Why? i thought we were listening to local voices about their yearning for democracy.
The first person in Bahrain to be confirmed to die was a migrant worker from the debris of an intercepted missile
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
Speak-yelling the words “CRUSHED BY GOD” in the chancel with my cohort bestie (Fr Deacon!) @danielbentley.bsky.social was a DELIGHT of our diaconal ordination 🤘🏼❤️🔥🙏🏼
Though the nations rage from age to age
We remember
Who holds us fast
God's mercy must deliver us from the conqueror's crushing grasp
This saving word that out forebears
Heard is the promise which holds us bound
'Til the spear and rod can be
Crushed by God
Who is turning the world around
Me and @ancientspeak.bsky.social lobbied hard for Canticle of the Turning as the final hymn at our ordination and it was ~prescient~!!!
Through all of this horror we're also in the background and almost completely forgotten at this point still holding the president of Venezuela hostage because this is empire with the mask of human rights ripped off
Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
Thank you Carlos!!! 🙏🏼
❤️❤️❤️ Thank you, Marguerite!! 🙏🏼
The Lord Bishop of New York and the Bishop Assisting of New York laying hands on Elis's head, making her a deacon
My bestie @ancientspeak.bsky.social is now a deacon in Christ's holy catholic Church. What an monumentally bad day for the evil powers of this world which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God! 🕯️
Tonight begins … lint-rolling white cat hairs off of black clothing. 🙃
Like Audre Lorde said in a commencement address, “Every day of our lives is practice in becoming the person you want to be.”
What if Lent IS about giving up!
I’m sure this is a fine podcast but, 🧼 📦, I hate that so much of the mainline is allergic to the idea of giving something up for Lent. We don’t need to be clever or subversive or “read against the grain” always! It’s actually good to give things up and practice discipline! ⚓️
We broke the world to make it whole...
Today I learned that tempura originated with Jesuits & the word comes from tempora—times—because it was something that could be eaten during fasting times / tempora.
A text I sent to a friend this morning: "It’ll be okay. 😊 Following the irrational will of God has been my whole schtick, so. Lol."
“Hard work” and “constant work” are not the same thing, and it’s a social sickness that we exist in a system that has deliberately conflated them to convince us to reject our own humanity
So, if I understand it correctly, according to the US supreme court, the president can murder people at will and face no consequences, but playing with tariffs is a bridge too far
