Next week I start my 1st ever series of night shifts as a doctor
Anyone got any good tips for surviving them?
Genuinely donβt know what to expect or how to prepare
(Think Iβve seen threads 𧡠about this before but canβt seem to find them, so feel free to link them if you can)
Iβve had induction for the past week, but it was mainly lectures π΄
Not sure Iβll have time to think about making dramatic life changes π₯²
Finished my 1st day working as a doctor
β¦& I loved it*. This is exactly what Iβve been dreaming. I loved finally getting to do even the most mundane of dr tasks
Leaving the hospital with a spring in my stepπ₯°
*ask me if I still feel this way after Iβve done an on call/night
From 4 August 2025, sexual health clinics will be able to offer a free vaccine to patients at highest risk of the sexually transmitted infection (STI), including gay and bisexual men who have a recent history of multiple sexual partners and a bacterial STI in the previous 12 months. The 4CMenB vaccine will help shield those most at risk of gonorrhoea - potentially averting up to 100,000 cases of the disease, while easing pressure on vital NHS services. It will play a significant role in the governmentβs shift from sickness to prevention as it makes the NHS fit for the future as part of its Plan for Change.
On Monday, the 4CMenB vaccine for gonorrhoea has now been rolled out in sexual health clinics in the UK
Pls recommend this to your at-risk patients, itβll help reduce gonorrhoea rates & limit the increase in antibiotic-resistant βsuperβ gonorrhoea

Lots of people with same illness arenβt lucky, many remain chronically unwell, hospitalised,l & struggle to find an effective meds
I hope that we can develop more effective treatments for people with SMI in the future, so they can live healthy, fulfilled lives like me
I have trauma from my time being unwell & being hospitalised.
Iβm lucky to be 2 years stable, & I have recently passed med school
Having had my own lived experience of SMI & hospitalisation, I hope I can draw on those experiences to have empathy for my future patients

Obsessed with the fact that ravioli is banned at the conclave, in case it was used to smuggle messages to the cardinals
When it comes to meds, youβre such a basic bitch. What we can learn about public perception of medicine from opera and musical theatre
