Situation im Libanon erinnert politisch mehr an frühe 1980er als an 2006. Vor dem israelischen Teilrückzug kam es 1983 auch zu einem israelisch libanesischen Friedensabkommen, das unter Druck von Reagan und seinem Envoy Philip Habib (auch lib. Abstammung) zu Stande kam. Ratifiziert wurde es nie.

HA hat innenpolitisch keine starken Verbündeten mehr.
