Came here from the other place. Retired. Amateur folk musician and actor, Saints supporter, unexpectedly old. Naturist, but I don't feel the need to post naked pics of myself (sighs of relief heard throughout Bluesky).

He's made the same sort of calculation as Labour did about the left -they've got nowhere else to go so we must court the right. He doesnt think this will lose him any LibDems but might gain a few Tories. Labour, of course, have found they were wrong about the left having nowhere to go.

It's doubly bizarre because, in the poll asking what people would like on banknotes, LibDem voters were the group most in favour of replacing historical figures with wildlife.

That is a lovely beer.

There is something about Polanski that means I don't really trust him. I can't put my finger on what it is. But the story about breast enlargement through hypnotherapy, amusing though it is, is not it.

Oh Ed. And I had such high hopes for you.

My dad did give me money to buy a newspaper. Usually, it was the Daily Express but sometimes it was the Daily Telegraph. And some money to buy sweets.

Masked fan unplugs referee’s VAR monitor in suspected β€˜planned’ protest in Germany A masked fan unplugged the referee’s video review monitor at a German football game while the referee was deciding on a penalty

More of this sort of thing please.

But, rather than receiving a formal
invite to meet Trump, Farage was in
fact invited to Mar-a-Lago by a
member of the club, according to
multiple people briefed on the matter

They said Farage had hoped he would
be able to catch Trump for a

scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago that
evening. However, Trump had a
change in his itinerary and decided to
stay instead in Doral, about an hour`s

between the two populist leaders who
famously formed a close friendship in
the vears before and after the 2016

Massive humiliation for Farage, who tipped off the UK press that he was flying to Florida to have dinner with Trump... only for Trump to decide he had more interesting things to do when Nigel arrived.

But the time hasn't changed in Stonehenge. They won't have to move the stones until 29th March.

Just pay the BBC out of general taxation but make it impossible for the government of the day to have any policy influence (well, certainly no more than it does now).

β€˜Like fleeing to Southampton’: was Mandelson escape β€˜plot’ just a joke? A story that started in the British Virgin Islands led to a sensational arrest 4,000 miles away – but was it ever more than a shaggy dog story?

We don't want him in Southampton either.

Thinking about it. It will be a huge emotional wrench to leave Labour after 45 years membership, serving as a councillor and working for an MP.

The increase in constituency work falls mainly on the shoulders of the MP's staff. These people are generally not well paid (I used to be one). Are they also getting above inflation rises?

I agree re the 404. Which is why I didn't go for the Andy Burnham hype. He failed to become leader when he stood before. There must be someone already in the PLP who could do better. I don't yet fully trust the Greens but would like to.

The problem being that there is no obvious alternative that would both unite the party and appeal to the country (until Rayner gets cleared on tax affairs). And the MPs proved to be right about Corbyn being unelectable, at least under FPTP (although I supported him at the time).

Labour must stop channelling Reform and unite with progressives. That’s the lesson from Gorton and Denton | Sadiq Khan The threat to the party in some parts of our country is now existential. But we can progress, as we have in London, by being bold and strong in our core beliefs, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

Neatly sums up my thinking.

The line (in the same sketch) "We've got a criminal practice which takes up most of our time" is still one of the funniest and cleverest I have heard. Not sure whether it came before or after homosexual acts were (partially) decriminalised.
