Otherwise, we watch Sunday/Monday for a brief warm-up, but we crash rapidly thereafter with some accumulating snow (TBD how much -- few inches at most).
Phew!!!

Phew!!!
ALL OVER THE PLACE: Clouds dominate much of the forecast, but I hope to see a few peeks of sun here & there! The theme for Friday is WIND -- with gusts that will approach severe t'storm strength. Definitely secure loose objects!
WINDY FRIDAY: As temperatures fluctuate over the coming days, wind will help usher in those fluctuations. In fact, wind gusts on Friday may top 50mph at times. To put that into perspective, a severe t'storm warning is issued when we expect t'storms to top 58mph.
Good morning, and happy Thursday! It will be seasonably cool today, but we'll at least see some blue sky and sunshine with temperatures in the 40s later on. A far cry from the 60s & 70s we had earlier!! But, hey, no severe WX. :)
At least we are not going to deal with severe WX for a bit. I'll take the sun & 40s personally, lol.
Not out of the question we have some accumulating snow still...but each passing day is one day closer to NOT having that, lol.
Back to mid-March weather. We'll see the April/May weather again down the road... the long road...
BACK TO REALITY: Have some windows open from the mild air this AM? It's time to close them... unless you love running up the gas bill for the furnace (which is already out of control, as everyone knows...!).
Do NOT let the 60s this AM fool you... the 30s return shortly after lunchtime (boooooooo). It'll be windy as well. Rain showers continue through the AM before tapering off later today.
The test is 10:15a ET/9:15a CT. Any alerts later this afternoon/evening should be taken as real.
INDIANA STATEWIDE TEST: Some local counties have opted out of sounding sirens, but others haven't. In an effort to reduce confusion, any outdoor sirens you hear THIS MORNING (or push alerts from apps, scrolls at bottom of local TV, etc etc) are part of the Indiana statewide test.
High cholesterol + meteorologist = science opportunity! Maybe I'll think of a fruit/veggie analay next time to be healthy. :)
Clouds keep us cooler, which means the "oven" doesn't get turned on. If we see a good amount of sunshine, the atmosphere is further primed for stronger storms.
Have ways to stay in touch with me here on social media & the Matt Rudkin WX App. If needed, I plan to go live for several hours as storms move through our area. I will keep you updated today...
Today is a day to be WEATHER AWARE, especially after sunset. Strong storms are likely later this evening. Large hail, damaging wind and tornadoes are all possible. The more sun we see today, the higher the chance for storms.
90sec video update on Tue PM's possible strong/severe t'storms
All over the place on my 7-day forecast! Highs near 70Β°.... then some snow. Between the two, some strong/severe t'storms Tuesday PM. More precip chances late week and into St Patrick's Day weekend.
Here are my latest thoughts on storm potential Tuesday night. It's a good night to be weather aware. Have a way to get warnings (aka the Matt Rudkin WX app!), and have a plan in place in case your local area goes under a warning. Could be a bumpy night, *IF* everything comes together.
Iβm not a fan of Indiana doing this test tomorrowβ¦ itβs going to cause confusion, which is frustrating to me as a communicator. However, it's not my choice, and I am trying to get the word out there. Please help me inform folks of the tornado siren TEST Tuesday morning for INDIANA.
PSA!!! Tomorrow (Tuesday, March 10), Indiana will have a statewide tornado drill at 10:15a EDT (9:15a CDT). There is **NO** SEVERE RISK in the morning. If you hear sirens in the morning, thatβs a good thing.
There *IS* a risk of severe weather in the evening & overnight.
Happy Monday!! If we're going to celebrate Monday's, how about this forecast? 60s/70s likely today under a mostly sunny sky. It'll be breezy, but still mild. Enjoy!!!
Good morning. Welcome back to Daylight Saving Time! Hopefully you didn't miss breakfast or church by the time you see this. :)
Morning clouds give way to sun later on. We warm to about 60Β° later this afternoon. It'll be breezy as the warm air moves in.
The tornado in Union City (EF-3) is the strongest tornado in Michigan since the Gaylord EF-3 in 2022. It's also the earliest EF-3 on record in Michigan.
Four people died, and several others were severely injured.
SW MICHIGAN TORNADO UPDATE: Here is the latest on the (at least) 3 tornadoes from Friday. NWS survey meteorologists are on the ground, analyzing the damage. Surveys will continue through the weekend, and updates will be provided once the surveys are completed.
DST BEGINS TONIGHT!!
Here is you last reminder to turn clocks AHEAD one hour before bed tonight, as daylight saving time begins at 2am. It's also a good time to change batteries in smoke & CO2 detectors.
TODAY'S SUNSET/SUNRISE:
7:09a/6:42p ET
8:08a/7:43p ET
COLD FRONT INCOMING: Most of us are in the 60s this afternoon, but that will rapidly change in the hours to come. Expect temperatures to quickly fall into the 40s late afternoon, with 30s likely after sunset. Back to reality for a bit!
Good morning and happy Saturday. Rain & t'storms this AM will give way to quiet conditions later on. Temperatures rapidly fall later today -- so if you like the warmth, enjoy it for now!
11:15p EST: Hey, night owls. We are quiet the rest of tonight, but the next batch of rain moves in around 5am EST, and lasts through 10a EST. Not expecting severe weather, but some heavy downpours, lightning and brief gusty wind up to 45mph possible.
This is slowly sliding eastward, but is taking its sweet time. With the soil still frozen a few inches below the ground, we may have some ponding water issues for towns that see consistent heavy rain for several hours. Let me know if you're seeing that where you live.
8p EDT: No severe weather, but torrential downpours for the Michiana communities seeing the rain! Much of this in the red/yellow is coming down at 1"/hr.
Watching radar for you... and you can do it too on the Matt Rudkin WX app! I'm sending push alerts as-needed. For now, nothing too concerning, friends. :)
6:45p EST: A nice storm moving through Berrien & Cass county. Winds about 45mph, very heavy rain and some lightning. Nothing too major, and it's NOT rotating... just a regular spring t'storm.
