Coverage of this has focused on Zuck et al 'bending the knee,' which is true to Trump's middle school mentality but misses the larger point: these guys have figured out that a purely transactional president works for them. Trump 2.0 will be winners-take-all. Everything else is a distraction.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Maya Angelou (FULL QUOTE): "When people show you who they are, believe them. When a person says to you, ‘I’m selfish,’ or ‘I’m mean’ or ‘I am unkind,’ believe them. They know themselves much better than you do. Why are you blaming the other person? He showed you who he was.”

Just a quick note to those new here, if you think someone's post is worth other people reading, repost it. Liking it does not have the same effect here as on the dead-bird site. There is no algorithm. That's one of the reasons we like it.
