generationally powerful ability
Itβs hard to keep me down because I have almost unlimited access to every ska song ever made in my pocket.
That Femcels record is hilarious. On a blunt level it's nice to see a group making the aesthetic mirror-image of Incelcore with humor and panache.
woop!
Sweet, love the pitch and name
Risograph animated poster by Zack Lydon for Sea Slug Animation Festival (Seattle).
Printed by Zine Hug (black, mint, sunflower and red inks).
Looks incredible actually
Very amusing and obviously intentionally poetic that the last song on their last album is a Metallica cover
I want to get this done this year, watch this space.
#vaporwave #vaporwave2026
I have written everything I ever wanted to write about Vaporwave and essentially said my entire thesis statement. Which gives me a feeling of immense pride and achievement. I'd like to properly give that feeling the respect it deserves and codify it properly.
I think I am going to collect all of my Vaporwave writings over the past 10 or so years and publish them into one proper (maybe lightly edited) PDF ebook. Everything from Private Suite, AE2, eclectic essays elsewhere.

Image including an abstract for an academic journal article titled 'Note to scene: Gender, race and rose-tinted nostalgia in emo': Abstract Twenty years on from its mainstream breakthrough, the popularity of emo music has resurged, offering new opportunities to appraise its cultural legacy. While acknowledging the creative and cathartic qualities of emo as fans, we reflect on how the intersections of race and gender have (not) been thoroughly engaged with in prior research on the genre. We also demonstrate how improvements concerning representation in emo are still constrained, with people of colour (POC) β particularly Black women β carrying heavy self-advocating responsibilities. Through a two-part case study β first, the marketing and booking of When We Were Young festival and second, a reflexive first-person analysis of music journalism surrounding emoβs βnew waveβ acts β we explore how emo has been (re)branded for old(er) and new(er) generations in the 2020s, how musical belonging and expertise is negotiated within the culture, and how nostalgia narratives can serve to romanticize emoβs exclusionary past at the expense of its more inclusive future. Keywords: Black alt, emo, gender, music festivals, music journalism, nostalgia, popular music, punk, race, subculture

and of course now I'm primarily writing about Emo and Pop Punk I'm listening to Vaporwave as an accompaniment to writing. Both are always there.
Back when I was regularly writing Vaporwave essays I was always naming them after Emo and Pop punk tracks. I named one of my proudest pieces in Private Suite after this MCR B-side
