something i hadn't even thought of was that while i can get a bus into glasgow instead of a train, the bus back is usually going down union street and that'll probably be shut until demolition's done on the burned building, so they'll all have to go some other way around.

i usually seem to end up picking 1-2 characters and then pairing them off with everyone they meet 😂

that was my problem, they've always been weirdly bad at letting other people ship different things for some reason. i assume it's calmed down a bit now but i still see the odd thing. but i've filtered a lot of words on tumblr to avoid it :D

Yeah! I picked a pairing because I like how THEY interact not how one or more of them would interact with ME!

Some people seem to do it, not always on purpose, but I've read plenty of M/M fics where the author is blatantly projecting too much onto one of the characters. (Loki gets it a lot for some reason.) And people assume an OFC will be a Sue but they don't assume that for an OMC.

Some fandoms do have a lot of fics that are either OFC or Y/N and clearly intended as some kind of self-insert but I wouldn't say it's the most common kind of fic, especially not among the older fandoms or with people who've been writing a few years.

2nd person self-insert feels like a recent thing to me, but I think maybe it was always there but just exploded in the past 5 years or so?

It's not my thing and I find a bit weird cos I was used to people writing the old-style 1st person Mary Sues instead.

one of my main complaints about the image folk have of scotland is that we're apparently seen solely as a pretty tourist spot not a modern industrialised nation. so it's not just this one thing but i see it as a bit of a familiar symptom.

i'm no sayin central's NOT a nice building, i just think had it burned down fire last night the main concern would be the fact that it's the busiest station in scotland, one end of the uk west coast line, and even if it's just shut for a few days the disruption's massive. people huv tae get places!
