I feel like we're being provided several real-world situations that are basically the trolley problem and so far only one guy has flipped the switch.

I’m not dismissing that having to navigate around a large convoy is disruptive- protests are meant to be disruptive but it is on the city to be prepared for the inevitably of protest. I am saying don’t shoot you self in the foot because you don’t agree with them.

We used noise complaints and got bylaws passed which was supposed to prevent the use of sonic torture causing hearing loss. That bylaw is now being used to justify police brutality when someone brings a megaphone to a protest.

I assume they drove which they are allowed to do and which every single protest or parade requires people to do even if it isn’t a convoy. Mind you I’m saying all this from a city which had a two week long occupation of trucks blaring train horns.

I’m short two pills (I’m not sure how that even happened) but now I’m spending my day trying to get a script written to cover the gap so I don’t have to go into detox

If you don’t believe me just look to how Ottawa’s occupation changed the way we protest. We aren’t even allowed megaphones for permitted protests anymore.

Even if you don’t agree with them you shouldn’t go around attacking valid means of protest. That’s just shooting everyone in the foot.

You don’t have to agree with their cause but don’t shoot all protesters in the foot by attacking valid means of protest.

I don’t know if any of that is the case with this particular protest but this is a concern I hear with basically every protest. Though there may be more validity in it when vehicles are involved as it would be harder to marshal an ambulance through.

My city also puts out maps of the areas congestion is to be expected on protest days and update them as needed so EMS know to avoid those areas if at all possible. Ive seen that elsewhere as well but I’m not sure if that happened in this case.

I’ve also seen ambulances placed strategically along protest routes in case something happens on that specific street. That wouldn’t be a novelty if the city were actually concerned with health and safety rather than discouraging protest.

That being said at every single planned large protest I’ve attended there have been marshals and medics. If someone were to need medical attention on a protest route the marshals would organize getting them an ambulance while medics tend to them.

Planned protests blocking one street in a major city shouldn’t cut off ambulance access anywhere with the exception of pick ups on that street.

People are so awful about it in my neighborhood where there’s me and two children who also use wheelchairs. It’s a major hazard.
