The Oklahoma Eagle reported that the family of Michael Glunt was told it could take 8+ months and $3,000 to obtain bodycam footage from a Feb. 8 police shooting. After publication, the family met with the mayor’s office and was told the video does not exist.
“He told another colleague, who refused to help him upload the data because of legal concerns, that he expected to receive a presidential pardon if his actions were deemed to be illegal, according to the complaint.”
Not enough reporting on surveillance tech is centered around this premise! Yes, Flock is an invasion of privacy, but every camera is choice in a city’s priorities. It’s either the illusion of safety or keeping people safe from poverty/inadequate healthcare/dangerous street/etc.
There’s not a single piece of police surveillance technology that makes a significant impact on stopping or lowering crime. It’s nothing more than marketing that enriches tech companies at the expense of funding supportive social programs. It’s another instance of the police defunding us.
I sometimes worry that too many people think being a good critic means being a self-righteous dick about every little thing and I think far too many miss the point that you can't critique anything if you don't know how to love something.
“Two of the officers at the scene had undergone crisis intervention training for handling such incidents, Howard County police said.”
Alex LaMorie had recently moved to a Maryland complex that is inclusive to people with disabilities. He was fatally shot after police said he approached officers with a knife.
His family and advocates say they want answers and accountability. https://bit.ly/40dg71T
There’s a lot of sadness in the world and when I need an escape from it I think about danhausen grabbing the miz’s fingers and saying “Yeah!!”
Almost every major outlet has run a piece entitled “who are the Kurds?” In the last week. Which other ethnic group, much less US ally for decades, would they write like this about? Why do Kurdish people have to be treated like some kind of oddity every time they’re relevant to a US audience?
Why lick the boots when you can wear them?
That trainer is a relic these days. I drove my parents nuts in the winter with the noise from my trainer.
I knew it wouldn’t be long until this gas station showed up on the news. It’s notorious for having the most expensive gas in the city for some ungodly reason.
Mental health crisis training for police doesn't work. We need a civilian alternative. www.thecity.nyc/2026/03/09/c...
A tweet from Lockheed Martin that says: “We have agreed to quadruple critical munitions production. As a result of President @realDonaldTrump's leadership, we began this work months ago with @SecWar Hegseth and Deputy Secretary Feinberg”
A tweet from Lockheed Martin: We are committed to working with our industry partners to further strengthen the American military's unparalleled capability with the greatest munitions in the world. We are moving with urgency, and we will deliver.
From last week. The guys at the bomb factory are gonna be busy.
“…about the 1873 massacre in Colfax, La., where dozens of Black men were murdered by a mob of former Confederates and Ku Klux Klan members.
ChatGPT had deemed it “D.E.I.” Mr. Fox said he agreed. “Because it focuses on exclusively anti-Black violence, which is a race,” he said.”
A tables, chairs, and ladders match to decide who’ll be the new leader of Iran.
It was wrong and harmful - and quite possibly unlawful - to cut already approved NEH grants because Donald Trump hates "DEI."
But the way DOGE went about doing it was even dumber than you probably imagined.
They fed abstracts into ChatGPT and demanded an answer in fewer than 120 characters.
They’re using the deaths as an excuse to build a new jail, too.
listen, this isn’t a lie, but it’s really close.
when you google it, the top source is Siskind’s own Facebook page.
the actual audio is just a meaningless blanket statement from which no one should draw any conclusions.
no actual news source has covered the quote, including Fox.
By delaying their release with their “multi-layered supervisor reviews,” my requests slowly become irrelevant and timely.
The purpose of a system is what it does and that system is the LAPD taking a year to two years to fulfill my public records requests.
If you are saying that the people running ICE prisons are fascist, I have news for you about how the whole punishment system works in this country.
NEW: Watch this report just in from CNN’s Frederik Pleitgen. It is raining oil in Tehran this morning.
A city of 10 million is being actively poisoned.

Definitely check out the New Yorker article. You can read a copy from the library, or at least I can from Libby.
I think about this piece all the time. I wanted a physical copy of it so I stole one from my therapist’s office. Great work!
The New Yorker @edcaesar.bsky.social wrote about the Kinahan’s recently and the story reads like a movie.
