A picture of a lake from the shore, with a cloudy sky and a dense thicket on the other side of the lake.
A picture of the large Tahquamenon Falls, taken from a high-up angle. Many conifer trees line the visible side of the river.

Two sets of three trees reside on either side of a wooden walkway, and the trees are leaning above the walkway causing them to intersect.
The past year has been largely learning the ropes and finding what I like, and now that Iβve done that Iβd like to explore many kinds of campgrounds all over the state this year!
As a final note, here are some pictures from my last camping trip at Tahquamenon Falls in late October.
An image from a beachside on Lake Michigan featuring the Mackinaw Bridge at night, with a few stars in the sky and a pair of trees to the left of the image.
Lastly, the site needs to have a clear view of the sky, which means little foliage over the sites themselves as well as little light pollution. If that isnβt an option, other night views such as this view of the Mackinaw Bridge at Mill Creek Campground are also good!
Most importantly, campsites are going to need to have beautiful sights in or nearby the site. Whether that be from a dense forest or a beautiful lake, Iβm not picky, but the sights of nature are truly important for me.
My first campground I visited was one in a city, and it honestly wasnβt very good. This experience helped me understand what I find valuable in a campsite. Electricity isnβt necessary, and honestly just drives up the price up. I also found I liked being mostly on my own.
I live in a place with quite a bit of light pollution, and stargazing is one of my favorite activities, in the spring of 2024 I thought that camping would be a great way to get out more, as well as a great chance to find clearer skies.
Hi all! Iβm a pretty new Michigan-based camper whoβs decided to start recording and blogging my trips across the state. In this thread Iβm going to give a little bit of my background as a camper as well as what I love about camping! π§΅
