Just a few more days to apply for this #pdra position in our group π please share widely!
A grey coloured Arabidopsis leaf epidermis, with black cell walls. Each cells has a colourful blobs - a nuclear localised fluorescent ABA sensor, with warm colours indicating high concentrations, and cooler colours indicating lower concentrations.
The Rowe lab is recruiting a #PlantScience PhD student for 2025! You'll use our new ABACUS FRET biosensors to map the leaf #AbscisicAcid accumulations at low humidity in Arabidopsis, wheat and rice to understand how ABA regulates stomatal dynamics. #PhDposition

Fantastic talk by Catherine Nuttgens at Futurebuild on the importance of urban trees, supported by research carried out within the Urban Tree Observatory @sheffieldpps.bsky.social
If you want to present your latest #stomata research at SEB 2025, there are only 4 days until the submission deadline(7th of March)!! Excitingly, @casparchater.bsky.social and I can now also announce a brand new Workshop focused on measuring gas exchange across scales with @li-corenv.bsky.socialππ
Well, this is exciting, a first ever foray into π³ stomata. First up, the "living fossil" Ginkgo biloba, and the tulip tree π·Magnolia soulangeana. Can't wait! @drhollycroft.bsky.social
SEB 2025 keynote speakers confirmed! SEB president Tracy Lawson, University of Essex Lecturer John Ferguson and BBSRC Discovery Fellow Lorna McAusland will all give talks in #stomata session P5. @casparchater.bsky.social www.sebiology.org/events/seb-a.... Abstract deadline March 7th. Please RT!
1/4 Delighted to share our latest preprint "Future heatwave conditions inhibit CO2-induced stomatal closure in wheat". We found that high CO2, high VPD heatwave treatment prevents stomatal responses to light, super-elevated CO2 and nitrogen fertiliser application. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

π¨ PhD: "Forests on the edge: examining vegetation recovery following climate extremes" at @bristolbiosci.bsky.social with myself, Lina Mercado (Exeter) and Eddy Robertson (UK Met Office). I would REALLY love to find a student for this, please share widely (thanks)

Some nicely curated data on how crop yields are impacted by climate change. Something very useful to have on hand in my field of research
Our review of the direct response of stomata to temperature just came out in an issue (OK, it was 3 months ago but I just noticed).
We cover what (little) is known, & possible mechanisms and implications.
Several more papers in the works. Watch this space!

Hello there, I'm new here. I'm a trilingual Texan abroad living in Barcelona, Spain, Professor of Plant physiology and leader of a European science research network, the PANGEOS cost action, on using advanced space science technologies for improving agriculture and forest sustainability.
