Thanks man, taking a break to reset and figure out a better way to get our community back together that’s not Bluesky — the fact that it took 2 weeks for people to see this farewell post says it all. Bluesky is dead.

Thanks man. I’m gonna start a chat forum — many of us who’ve been part of the online metal community since ‘00 know how social media should work, and it’s not this app.
Thanks JT, be well. See you on a future platform!
Yeah thanks for the kind words — I’m sure I’ll be online again one day, though more likely on a platform that fosters deep, rich conversation & collaboration. Even if it’s just 30 people on a Discord site. Stay tuned.
No worries — I wanted to unpack the genius screenplay of that grand finale standoff in The Good the Bad and the Ugly — and all the events that led to the 3-way shootout. It’s just a masterpiece in storytelling, and I’m trying to learn about scriptwriting for myself by deconstructing others.
I just wrote a synopsis on the grand finale of the Good Bad & Ugly, enjoy : boxd.it/cABqJv

Back at ya — man, LB could be the best platform for film discussion if it allowed for threaded conversations. Anyhoo, following! 🤝
Ok so if you comment, Letterboxd doesn’t allow me reply to your comment? We can’t have conversational threads on LB!? 🤔
I’m writing up one random film per day, so if you have a moment you can always pop in to see a daily reco 🤗
Go for it!! It’s easy to navigate, we can follow each other, reply, comment, like etc. I’m watching a film a day, and writing a snippet for each. And as always, happy for conversation. 🙂↔️

Hey moots —
I’m now on Letterboxd 😬
Looks like you can follow, comment and reply on the app — so if anyone has an account, let me know so I can follow you back. @letterboxd.social
Time to say happy new year and au revoir!! My New Year’s resolution is to get off social media — it’s been a fun year here, hopefully I posted a bunch of cool content, and maybe you discovered something new. I wish you all the best for 2026 to infinity and beyond!

It’s not only that Akira is one of the wildest and most imaginary films, that it’s entirely hand illustrated makes it all the more mind blowing. This was 1988 — how stunning does it look in the original 35mm scan?

It’s interesting that Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe” & Celtic Frost’s “Dethroned Emperor” are from the same era, in that they came out within 10 yrs of one another. [We tend to draw a line in the sand today between 70s proto vs 80s trad — but musically, this was all on the same continuum]
I *think* the artist is Matthew Joseph Peak, son of Bob Peak — who made this, and it always catches my eye
That artwork 🤌
Fair point — 80s bands in the 90s were mostly an unmitigated disaster.
An earlier example of VistaVision —
To Catch a Thief. 1955. Dir: Hitchcock. It’s because we now have 4K scans of original 35mm negatives — in this case, not even a 2nd gen interpositive, but the actual original film reel — that we now get to have a film art gallery at home.
One Battle After Another. 2025. Marvelous, deserves all the awards — and just look at the grain, texture & color of that celluloid. Here’s PTA explaining their choice of ‘VistaVision’ — likewise used to shoot The Searchers, Vertigo, North by Northwest, and other 50s epics.

Tbf even those who were old enough didn’t go see all their fave bands — and I bet you felt the energy anyway by just being alive in the era 😚
💯He did the same with the Cavalera guys by setting up the gear and sounds organically to emulate their BtR era — Rizk just knows his old school

And that was before he sold Arnie that damn ‘58 Plymouth Fury!
Wait ‘till AI understands this
Remember when he terrorized the Home Alone kids
Older folks just got it down 🤗
