Preparations for the big day are in full swing with Public Works staff readying trees and prepping planting locations.

Our street cleaning crews were on the ground in the Mission early this morning — and every weekday — to make sure the sidewalks are in good shape for the Marshall Elementary School students and teachers when they arrive in the morning. #LoveOurCity

This week crews are working on Mission Street, from Norton Street to Russia Avenue. This is the final stretch of paving on the entire project and all work is scheduled to be completed this month.

The project includes approximately 40 sidewalk bulb-outs, upgraded traffic signals at 20 locations, sewer main replacement at 10 locations, and concrete street base replacement work and street repaving throughout the project area.

Every year, the Public Works team is out in force with a deep-cleaning and beautification operation to create a welcoming experience for the thousands of locals and visitors drawn to Chinatown to shop, eat and enjoy the cultural festivities during the holiday season.

Early this morning, crews power washed the eye-catching Dragon Gate at Grant Avenue and Bush Street that marks the southern entrance to Chinatown. The gate, with three portals, is festooned with green tile and adorned with carvings of lions, fish and dragons.

Through a partnership between Public Works and community members, CleanCorridorsSF aims to create a more welcoming environment for residents, merchants and visitors in San Francisco’s vital neighborhood commercial districts.

Our Outreach and Enforcement (OnE) Team also is on hand to inform property owners and businesses about their ongoing responsibility to keep the sidewalk outside their premises clean and safe and to subscribe to adequate refuse service.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day this morning in Bayview-Hunters Point, Potrero Hill & other D10 neighborhoods for our monthly Love Our City: Neighborhood Beautification Day workday, bringing together community volunteers and our pro crews to green, clean & beautify SF.
