An aerial shot of bombs exploding in Iran. Title: $1 billion The Daily US costs of the Iran War. Subtitle: That sum would be enough to cover the daily costs of Medicaid for all 16 million people expected to lose access and food stamps for all 41 million adults and children who rely on them as a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) budget cuts.
Our priority would be health care and feeding children.

Lawmakers renewed their push to pass the SAVE Act, which would block millions of Americans from voting. It failed before β and it must fail again. Tell your senators to stop this attack on the freedom to vote: bit.ly/4tmVIor
Great women are always at the start of structural change. We have fought for every right we have in this country. We will not go back.

61 years ago today, hundreds of brave Americans crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, and were met with violence for simply demanding the right to vote. Their courage changed history. Today, we honor them and recommit to our mission: Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.
During Women's History Month and on this International Women's Day, we invite you to check out the Minnesota Historical Society's "Votes for Women" online exhibit. It's fun to review the content or come across something you might have missed on a previous read - mnhs.gitlab.io/archive/vote....
Voting is already challenging for many disabled people. By requiring hard-to-get documents just to register to vote, the SAVE Act could make it even harder.
Help us fight back! Our friends @autisticadvocacy.org break down how you can join @aapd.com and our work to protect the freedom to vote. ‡οΈ
A graphic on deep purple that says the Save of America Act creates more read tape when voting is already safe. It says, "Say 'No' to Red Tape." Call your U.S. Senators and tell them to Vote "No" and adds the phone number for the U.S. Senate switchboard (202) 224-3121.
Take action by letting your U.S. Senators know we don't want to make voting harder for women, who are already facing increased burdens of managing life with rising costs, increasing employment uncertainty, and pressures of health care and child care.

The Protect Coloradoβs Future coalition are collecting signatures to put a graduated income tax on the 2026 ballot. This proposal would lower taxes for 98 percent of Coloradans, while raising taxes on individuals & corporations making more than $500,000 a year. Learn more at www.protectcolorado.com

A Campaign Legal Center graphic featuring a quote from Rep. Shirley Chisholm: "If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." The background is blue with a patterned design, and there's a portrait of Shirley Chisholm.
International Womenβs Day reminds us of the transformational role women have played in advancing democracy in our country. We honor trailblazers like Shirley Chisholm, who shattered barriers as the first Black woman elected to Congress in 1968 and championed representation for all.
On International Women's Day, we demand:
β
Workplace equality
β
An end to gender-based violence
β
Educational equity
β
Reproductive autonomy
β
Protections for immigrant families
β
Trans liberation
β
An end to over-policing of women of color
β
Protection of access to housing
And so much more.
On International Womenβs Day, we stand in solidarity with all who are working to end violence against women worldwide.
Supporters of the Voting Rights Act hold up signs.
Today, as we reflect on what happened 61 years ago, we remember that the fight for voting rights is ongoing, more critical than ever and seemingly under constant attack. It is up to all of us to keep up the fight for equal representation and voting access!
The loss of Section 5 was huge. Immediately after it was dismantled, previously covered states like Texas, Alabama, & North Carolina passed laws known to disenfranchise voters of color. Only Section 2 litigation remains as a tool and it is currently under attack. www.naacpldf.org/case-issue/l...
Yet in 2013, the US Supreme Court rendered Section 5 inoperative by striking down its formula for deciding which jurisdictions must follow its pre-clearance terms. A bill to rewrite the coverage formula has failed to pass out of Congress since then. www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...
The Civil Rights movement led to the 1965 Voting Rights Act. It was reauthorized and strengthened with broad bipartisan support in 1970, 1975, 1982, 1992 & 2006. Each time Section 5 of the VRA prevented hundreds of racially discriminatory voting practices.
