A somewhat disgruntled #MosaicMonday Medusa(?)โ€ฆ wishing that the famous dogs at the centre of the mosaic would hush their excited yapping so her hair can go back to sleep.

Intriguing discoveries - thanks for sharing Alice! Weapons and โ€˜warrior burialsโ€™ are fascinating arenโ€™t they? Removing all that metal from circulation? And how do we know if the deceased was a warrior or honoured for another status? A battered sword but also a battered skeleton - parry fracturesโ€ฆ?

Really sad to read about the passing of the fabulous Mike Corbishley in the Feb 2026 British Archaeology Magazine. I was one of Mikeโ€™s first Archaeology and Education MA students in 2003 - he was an enormous inspiration and infectiously enthusiastic. He is missed @archaeologyuk.bsky.social
