Extra funky soul-jazz, with Lee Morgan and Grant Green giving it that little something extra. This is the 2021 Classic Vinyl Series reissue, and sounds fantastic. #jazzsky #vinyl
Great one, and I love the Bill Evans shrine too π
A classic from Milesβ first great quintet in β58, and yet another Miles album that shaped the direction of jazz. Original 6-eye mono pressing. #jazzsky #vinyl
Getting down with Grant Green and friends on this funky live date from 1970. This is the β73 repress, Van Gelder cut. #jazzsky #vinyl
Nice to see city pop getting some love!
A great album that sold like hotcakes. Keep looking and youβll find a clean original that doesnβt break the bank π
Nice & funky, and kind of a slow burn.
Just delivering the goods without any fuss. Original 1971 Groove Merchant pressing, Bell Sound stampers. #jazzsky #jazz #funk #vinyl
Good one! And not one you come across everyday outside of Japan π
What a great one. Stanleyβs take on βI Told Jesusβ is a real stand-out. Original β71 pressing, Van Gelder stampers. π₯ #jazzsky #jazz #vinyl
Bebopping along with a classic early BN album that tends to get overlooked. Doesnβt help that there havenβt been any vinyl reissues for over 40 years. This is the 1983 King Records (Japan) mono reissue, sounds great. #jazzsky #jazz #vinyl
Fantastic record, and I agree, one of his best albums! π₯
I never get tired of looking at that cozy listening space!
Classic alert! β€οΈ
And oft-overlooked jazz legend. His playing always hits the spot. Enjoy!
Nice find! Amazingly clean cover π
Thanks!! One of my absolute favorite vault sessions, and one I donβt own on vinyl. Hopefully the Tone Poet people will get around to it one of these days.
Iβve been enjoying that record for over 30 years. Such a funky classic!
Thanks much for the liner notes! Read them ~10 years ago when I owned the CD, nice to read them again. John Patton is one of my jazz heroes β€οΈ
It was almost criminal how many great Blue Note sessions languished in the vaults for a decade, or two, or three. I have the Japanese CD and agree, this is a great date!
Best version ever of βSon Of A Preacher Man,β hallelujah.
The Queen Of Soul, hallelujah.
Rest in Power.

I still remember hearing Bill Evans Trio for the first time and being amazed with the level of intimacy and interplay. Breathtaking. This is the 2023 Craft/OJC reissue, AAA cut by Kevin Gray. #jazzsky #jazz #vinyl
You get so much bang for your buck with those older country records, I grab them whenever I come across them. Ray had one hell of a voice too.
Discogs is a good place to find the value, and to sell should you go that route. For storage, keep them indoors in a clean, dry location, preferably out of direct sunlight. You might also consider getting a turntable and keeping and playing them yourself.
Oh yeah, thatβs the good shit right there. Her first 4 have held up really well and still sound fresh.
Face-melting π« From the kaleidoscopic cover to the African percussion textures, from Hillβs off-kilter stabs to Hubbardβs blistering wails, the intensity is turned up to 11 on this date. Original β66 Van Gelder cut, All Disc (east coast) pressing. #jazzsky #jazz #vinyl
Couldn't agree more. This group was one of my best discoveries of this year β a fresh take on a classic sound. I was a little late to the party but enjoying them immensely!
βI imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.β
- James Baldwin (1924-1987)
Love love love The 78 Prof!
