This is the ultimate goal of the "Gender Critical" movement: to make being trans illegal, and to make prisons torture for trans people
It's not that the American GC movement is more extreme or at odds with the UK one, they are just further ahead

Alt text: A tweet from Christopher F. Rufo (@realchrisrufo) posted at 5:00 PM on February 25, 2025. The tweet states that Tulsi Gabbard is preparing a memo directing all intelligence agencies to identify employees who participated in the NSAβs "obscene, pornographic, and sexually explicit" chatrooms. The memo also calls for terminating their employment and revoking their security clearances, with a deadline set for Friday. The tweet has 254.7K views, 397 replies, 3K retweets, 12K likes, and 335 bookmarks.
This is a full purge of every single LGBTQ employee at the NSA. Rufo is falsely mischaracterizing a LGBTQ employee resource group as a "sex chat" to create pretext to fire every single member in it.
This is a playbook they will run to purge the entire federal government.
Screen shot, which reads, As required by the Administrationβs Executive Orders, NEH awards may not be used for the following purposes: promotion of gender ideology; promotion of discriminatory equity ideology; support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) or diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives or activities; or environmental justice initiatives or activities.
NEH introduces new prohibited categories to comply with executive orders. This is an infringement of academic freedom plain and simple, and also nonsense: what is βdiscriminatory equity ideologyβ
Hi all! We have extended the deadline for this call!!
New deadline: Saturday, March 1! π
The National Park Service eliminated references to transgender people from its Stonewall National Monument web page, removing the βTβ in references to LGBTQ+ on the official site for the Greenwich Village monument, which marks a milestone in the fight for gay rights.

NEH has posted updates to the funding restrictions for some grant programs.
An illustration of a raven with black and colorful feathers ripped apart a RQ-11B "Raven" drone in its talons. It's against a bright blue/green background with the words "Trans Liberation Not More U.S. Invasion" "No Pride in War" around it.
A circular button/sticker with a pair of black and white scissors cutting a military aircraft in half against a red/pink background with a yellow border. The text circling the circumference of the image says "War Profiteers Kill Queers" "Cut Ties with Boeing" "QueerTransWarBan.com"
A lavender illustration with a person shorts, a white tank top, and boots holding a large syringe and a large injection vial with the words "Healthcare not warfare" on it. In the bottom right corner are two images of people injecting hormones. To the left of the image are two drones/military aircraft with a black cross through them. Below the drone says "Reclaim Pride!" in black text. The top of the image says "'Mones Not Drones" and, in smaller front, "Trans Healthcare Not Warfare"
A purple, black, and white illustration of a person in tall black heels, black, shorts, and a black bikini top with big black hair and purple flowers in their hair kicking a tear gas canister. To the right, are four smaller images of a canister that says 'riot control', a cop in a gas mask with a big cross, the same person winking, and a protest against trans military recruitment and for trans healthcare.
It's important to remember that serving in the military is not liberation for trans people.

Cover from The Economist from two years ago "Say goodbye to 1.5Β°C; why climate policy is off target". It has a graphic of the Earth with an apple on its head, and a arrow shot through the Earth.
A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5Β°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51Β°C and not 2Β°C. We need to keep fighting.
Every tonne of COβ emitted makes the job of future COβ removal harder, and every 0.01Β°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.
The image is from a "Transparency Center" document and lists guidelines regarding acceptable and prohibited content for insults. It mentions: 1. Insults about: Character, such as cowardice, dishonesty, criminality, and sexual promiscuity or immorality. Mental characteristics, including but not limited to accusations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, as well as unsupported comparisons among politically correct (PC) groups based on inherent intellectual traits. 2. Highlighted section: The document allows allegations of mental illness or abnormality when tied to gender or sexual orientation, referencing political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality. It also acknowledges the non-serious use of terms like "weird."
Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.
Me as well

Insightful, though I would still stress historical context and how democracy in South Korea has always been a project with varying results, though protest continues to be, in my opinion, a unique and powerful characteristic that others can learn fromβnever settle, always resist
An important point to remember is that the rhetoric he is using isnβt new, it isnβt even surprising. Weβve seen it since the 1950s both during authoritarian years and during supposedly democratic years. The incessant fear of North Korea had routinely been used to clamp down on protest and opposition
