But I love the idea of allowing public sector digital people to do tours of duty in other industries. I think most would approach that with humility and eagerness to learn.
When people from outside gov are brought in to ‘fix’ digital services they often have way less understanding of how to do this than the people already there. Listening to and empowering the brilliant digital people you have already is a much better plan than bringing in people to patronise them!
‘It’s time to recognize smartphones for what they truly are, essential lifelines that connect people to the support they need to rebuild their lives.’
It's time to stop the neglect of Whitehall content.
That's the stuff that individual UK government departments publish.
What should a digital centre of government be doing to make the content better and tackle 11 years of content debt?

I finally got round to writing a blog for the first time in ages inspired by @jenitennison.com's questions about a digital centre of government and the many brilliant responses from to name just a few @timpaul.co.uk @cathydutton.bsky.social and @escmum.bsky.social medium.com/@annavhepbur...
I'm a bit late to the party on this @jenitennison.com but here's a blog - hopefully first of a series medium.com/@annavhepbur...
I really agree about the need for someone with a strong understanding of UCD at a v senior level.
There’s been a lot of talks about tensions and dichotomies and juxtapositions as a way of guiding conversations about the future of digital government. I wrote about one of them, which is the balance between user-facing delivery and work on enabling platforms: www.kubabartwicki.com/posts/user-f...
