worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

My legal name was simply one I liked the sound of, that again, I had used in stories and RPGs in the past.

But I have loads of names for different people and situations.

I can never be an Emily though, I know too many Emilies, so I have some name envy there cause it’s an excellent name.

So I was writing a Pagan book and needed a witchy pen name and a friend suggested Ariella for the first name and I tried Ariella Serpentine for a minute but then decided I liked Ariana more. It comes from Ariadne and I’ve always liked it and named rpg characters that.

Every trans woman I know has had "why not be an effeminate man?" shoved in our faces for ages and yet thus piece suggests that even once suggesting an effeminate boy might be trans is some sort of crime against humanity.

She’d Never Changed Her Gender Marker. Kansas Invalidated Her License Anyway. — Assigned A trans Kansas resident recently changed her name but not her gender marker on her license, fearing what Kansas may do if she did. The Kansas DMV still flagged her ID.

This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

Something that drives me nuts in online occult groups is when someone will bring up a term that only really finds specific definition in an RPG or video game and then tries to make a Thing out of it. See also all the Tumblrfied guides to dragons etc that mostly (maybe unknowingly?) reference DnD

I wish it didn’t exist, but that being said, I block it the fuck out because I spent too many years paying attention to online games of hyperbole where the winner is the mostest oppressedest and thus can be unrelentingly shitty to anyone else. Never want to be part of that scene again.

My secret for keeping out of the intra-community trans discourse is every time someone comes up with a new dehumanizing term for a subset of trans people I put a filter on it so it won’t even show up. I don’t care about it, I hate it, and it has never been about anything but hurting one another.

Why are all the history books about kings and wars instead of crafts and culture?

I am FUCKING DESPERATE for history books that talk about actual history - life, culture, agriculture and trade, the arts, theology - not just the bullshit of kings and popes.
