We know what solidarity means, and we will keep fighting and making our voices heard until people get their jobs back!

NYC Alamo United is excited to have a new group of soldiers alongside us in the war to make Sony and Alamo treat their workers with the respect and dignity they deserve.

With their courageβand the support of unionized comrades across the countryβSlaughterHouse United will win recognition and the right to bargain a fair contract.
While the incoming union-busting campaign by Sony Alamo (the first since the acquisition) will no doubt be fierce, we have no doubt that the workers will remain steadfast.
What they didnβt expect was our willingness, readiness, and ability to fight for our rights, respect, and dignity as workers.
Our struggle is not ours alone; all workers, all PEOPLE, are stronger when we stand together.
Alamoβs exploitation of its workers has gone unchecked for too longβand, when Sony purchased Alamo for $200 million dollars, the multimedia conglomerate expected the ability to continue that culture of exploitation.
As a result, many people were informed they no longer had a way to pay their bills or feed themselves mere hours before they were scheduled.
This is unfortunately par for the course.
At those locations, venue management were informed of the layoffs the night before they were to take effect and told to simply call whatever number of people Sony Alamo decided was necessary to be culled the next morning.
Workers at Slaughter Lane (and every other non-unionized Alamo in the country) didnβt have that option.
As a result, our bargaining committee was able to inform our members of the potential layoffsβ&, when the company unilaterally decided to move forward with them anyway, to file a ULP charge against them with the NLRB & go out on strike w the full protection of federal labor law.
At the unionized Alamo locations here in Manhattan and Brooklyn, Sony Alamo had an obligation to bargain over these layoffs.
NYC Alamo United is currently on strike because of the same layoffs SlaughterHouse United cites as a main reason for their unionization:
βThe inhumane layoffs, given without warning or severance, which stole hard earned PTO hours from all affected, were the last straw for us.β
NYC Alamo United stands in solidarity with SlaughterHouse United. Today, March 25th, our newly-unionized comrades at Alamoβs Slaughter Lane location in Austin, Texas delivered their demand for recognition with the UAW to Alamo Drafthouse management.

Interior of literature from @nycalamaunited which says βWe are striking because Alamo: Illegally laid off over 20% of our coworkers, affecting 70 different households who had no time to prepare; Canceled the health insurance of our coworkers and denied them severance; Are purposefully understaffing to keep more money in their pockets, which hurts staff, the customers, and the quality of service. An injury to one is an injury to all! We demand that Alamo negotiate with the union in good faith and stop putting corporate greed ahead of people and their families! Cancel your season pass. Donβt cross the picket. Spread the word. Locations listed: Brooklyn (455 Albee Square West), Manhattan, Nassau & Liberty Street.
